I regularly use the McCormick pork gravy when I make pork loin or pork tenderloin via sous vide. I just make the gravy and then add the juice from the bag. It makes a very tasty but simple gravy. I also recently started using the au jus gravy when I do eye of round/top round/tenderloin and add the juice into that.

For home usage, I absolutely endorse some of those products. The ones that require milk to be added are usually a bit better but I've had some that just need water that were perfectly acceptable. My biggest problem with dried mashed potatoes is the very strong and very fake butter flavor that some of them use. I ran a kitchen for a few years and we had a banquet room above our kitchen/dining room that was used for private parties. Whenever it was a large group that requested mashed potatoes, I'd always use 50-60 percent real mashed potatoes with the rest being dry filler. Sysco used to have these very generic tasting dry mashed potatoes that blended perfectly with real mashed potatoes. No fake ass butter flavor, no massive amounts of salt. You'd be surprised how many times we were complimented on our mashed/smashed potatoes. Throwing in some freshly roasted garlic goes a LONG way when you're using dried stuff as filler.

I've only ever seen them in one grocery store in my life, but now I live just down the street from there. I got a big bag of Vegeta out of curiosity and it is THE thing to use for my vegetable soups, I don't bother with using stock or bouillon, this is the way to go. The website is an absolute trip, this man captures my stereotypes of the Croats in the neighborhood, well-put-together but in a way I find bewildering and not at all to my taste.

Bachelor fry is a double-oil, highest-heat-your-range-can-handle, often seasoning-in-oil fry method that is used by cooks either using low quality, usually frozen, ingredients or by those who are in a hurry and have no one to impress (or both). popeyes gives you a bowl of really soupy potatoes that tastes nothing like real mashed potatoes, but the gravy is legit, although likely from a package as well

a packet of instant mash and instant gravy is a great way to get like 75% of the way there

i pour it out onto a plate and make peaks and valleys in the surface and then pour the gravy on top, shit is DOPE
