This is a Fleurburger.
It costs $5,000.00

How much is too much to pay for a burger? (Obviously the ideal is "make it yourself" but we don't always live in an ideal world)

The best burger ever was from a little grill inside a gas station back in the late 80s in rural South. Good quality buns, 1/4lb beef, sharp cheddar, lettuce, tomato, red onion, mustard, mayo, ketchup that were $1.50.

I've yet to eat a burger that ever matched Mr. G's cheeseburger that was consistently that high quality for decades before the grill shut down. I've had countless others from $1.50 to $30 with nothing standing out compared to the un-pretentious grill owner with high quality ingredients.

thanks for reading my blog reddit. like and subscribe.

I wouldn't pay more than 10 bucks for a "good" burger nowadays.
We still got a local place that sells 1/2 pound burgers for 7 bucks. Fully loaded stuff too, with generous fries and toppings. But they are honestly barely staving off bankruptcy, the building is crumbling literal 100+ years old. I'm surprised Covid didn't kill them off.
I miss this old style stuff, nowadays the only supposed "good" burgers left in town are chains like 5 guys and red robin. The food isn't bad, but you pay out the ass for a fancy gourmet burger.

They specifically did "just" a burger, but then pulled a lot of tricks and obviously optimized everything like you would expect. Using beef garum etc. You can read up on that if you want.

I also tried their vegetarian version which had a quinoa-tempeh patty. I actually got more of a seared bite out of that one. The caramelization was incredible. It's difficult to explain but there was definitely more of a cookout flex compared to the regular burger. You can find David Zilber's (head of Noma fermentation lab at the time) explanation of how they made it if you Google it.

Because they're not buying the burger to have good food, they're buying fuel to get through a working schedule that has less days off than any other major Western country. There's your problem, here in gothenburg there are loads of decent burger places, like Max.

Fuck your pretentious shit.

No it's 20 bucks with soda and fries
Around, about 12 bucks for just the burger
Fuck great burgers though, and the fries tend to be enough for 2-3 people, pretty much a whole basket with delicious non frozen fries

It's expensive but God damn it's some good burgers

Max is only decent for a fast-food joint, it's literally on par with mcdonald's

A bastard burger knocks them put of the water

Why is it so expensive though? Did they sprinkle gold on it? Even if you use a wagyu beef patty it shouldn't cost 5k dollars

Why do you have the notion that Europeans drink less heavily than Americans, let alone drink less wine? Even the Brits can easily get through a bottle of wine during lunch or dinner.

15-20 for any normal burger. i had a surf and turf burger in maine that was 45 with lobster. it was great but 45 bucks is steep.

Colorado, im just not poor.

a double bacon cheese burger from mediocre chain like carls jr is what 9 bucks now? A decent place like bad daddys or the local bar is 11-14 before you add anything. 2 patties, bacon, cheese, onions and pickles is right at 17 dollars after tax. The saving grace is ill get two meals out of it because i won't eat 2/3rds of a pound of beef in one sitting.

I've over 100,000 in the bank. It's the principle of the matter. $20 for a damn burger is one step away from going "I mean it's one banana Michael. What could it cost, $10?"

They were making 3000 burgers a day. The line was half a kilometer long when I went, and I arrived as they were opening.
