As it should be. Eating lunch at your desk is the worst wageslave thing you can do. For the love of God, get the fuck out of your office and go outside. Go anywhere else besides your fluorescent prison.

Shitty office doesn't have a break room or anything. On the days when it's raining outside and I just want to sit somewhere with my lunch, I have no choice but at my desk.

>> No.14763923

Yeah. Theres the office, kitchen, conference room and bathroom, nobody eats in the conference room or kitchen (or bathroom obviously). We have a microwave, toaster oven, fridge and Keurig, so you can reheat basically anything you want as long as you bring a proper dish for the appliance you want to use.

Yes, I am desperate everyday to get off the clock ASAP. I spend all day drafting process docs, revising my coworkers’ shit emails, and auditing timesheets/pace reports. Having to be on the clock past 4 doing this shit is unbearable and all the weight gain from deskeating is worth it.

I've never worked in a place that would let me go home early if I skipped lunch. So I guess this is one of the acceptable times to eat lunch at your desk. The past two places I've worked, you must be at your desk and working no later than 8 AM, and may not leave before 5 PM (leaving at 5 PM is also considered pretty taboo). So I make sure to leave for lunch for an hour, which people still complain about.

I always eat my lunch while working so I can fuck around during my 30 minute lunch break. Before the happening I spent my lunch break talking to people in the canteen, now I either read a book or watch TV.

I'm literally a marketing exec for Fortune 500 companies. It's not like it's some shit podunk job, which is why you all in your "sure get out of here whenever" gigs amaze me. My reward for leaving at 4 PM each day and not eating lunch would be more work.

Both companies have always said "there's always more work." The faster and more efficiently I work, the more work I'm given, which normally means staying late or working more once I get home.

I can't fucking stand my career though. Now I'm unemployed because of Covid and I was contracting before, but for the sake of discussion, was talking about my "real" office jobs.

Process Engineering for the auto industry, and yeah kind of the same for me.

Which is why I always say I need more time to do tasks that I actually need in reality, so I don't get work piled up on me

>> No.14764183

>>14764165
Yeah, ditto. Like, I've worked some time into my day to fuck around online, but it's frustrating knowing that if everyone had the same work expectations, it would take Jackie 3 desks over 15 hours to do a task I could do in 8, but instead of getting to go home, I have to lie about it and sit at my desk. Me being at that desk is more important to most companies than providing solid and efficient work.

I used to stare out my window for like 20 minutes at a time, watching kids play in the park or people walking around living their lives, wondering where it all went wrong. Not that getting out of the office was any better, knowing about all of the projects in the pipeline, and knowing that if I typed in one number wrong, I'd cost the company $20k overnight.

But, uh, this is /ck/. So, um, for lunch, my favorite place was the hidden golf course restaurant people didn't know existed where I could drink and watch ESPN for an hour.

In my job I'm responsible for programming the painting robots for the pieces we produce in adition to some other standard office work. Thus I'm always butting heads with the production department over time in the line to actually run my tests. Truth to be told I can easily program something to paint simple pieces in less than an hour, but I always add an hour or two to the time I actually need, otherwise one day they'll show up with a complex piece and I'm fucked
