You try to eat a big meal when you're out on deck all day and don't have time to stop and eat. Most professional fishermen don't eat a lot of fish though, since having to eat what you catch is a sign you're on hard times or you don't think your haul is going to make enough money to feed you. It's 50/50 superstition and tradition, and some guys just fucking hate eating fish because they've eaten a lifetime's worth and then some over the years.
