When's the last time you had a good old-fashioned meatloaf dinner?

>> No.14712251

probably 6 or so years ago.

I'm not american and have never tasted it. Can someone drop a good ol' grandma recipe, so that I could try it ?

Making one tonight, actually. Making a turkey meatloaf with the last of the ground turkey my gf panic bought at the beginning of the pandemic.

It's pretty good if you use poultry seasonings. It's almost like a turkey dinner in a easy package.

It’s just ground beef with eggs and spices baked in a loaf pan

I actually made meatloaf for the first time last week. It ended up a bit too wet and crumbled a lot even after resting for 10 minutes, but it held together much better as leftovers. Tasted pretty good 7/10

>> No.14713572

Meatloaf is only good if you make your own gravy.
You do know how to make dark gravy from scratch?

I make myself a poor person "meatloaf" using dollar store canned chicken, corn flour and egg. tastes ok, sort of like bland, dry-ish chicken nuggets.

yes the sauce packet has all the instructions. it's not too difficult anon you boil some water and stir the sauce powder in.

I can't remember and I hope never again. I hate meatloaf. I'm sure I'll meet a woman someday that I love very much, and she'll want to convince me her meatloaf is the best. I'll politely play along and let her make the vile slop, but I'll never enjoy it. Then afterwards, I'll clean the dishes while she has a glass of wine. I'll make love to her before going to bed and she'll lay beside me asking if I think she's still pretty. This time I won't have to lie, because she'll undoubtedly be the most beautiful woman to me. Then we'll wake up in the morning and argue about me getting 2% milk instead of skim milk when I stopped by the store on the way home from work the previous day...

That's the fuckin' dream boys!

So I make this every other month at least. it's a favorite. Meatloaf sandwiches the next day are almost the best part. So Snap-e Tom is super hard to find, but is really what gives the recipe that little extra something. If I cant find that or V8 I use tomato sauce and just season myself, but thats a pain. Also, I haven't seen frozen onions since the 90s, I obviously just dice my own, but I do take the extra step of frying them up in some oil first to soften them. Those are pretty much my only changes, but I know the recipe by scratch now.

Disappointed that there's no secret ingredient, but thanks. I don't know what Snappy Oom is, so I'll probably sub ketchup.

Snap-e Tom is the secret ingredients, along with the oats. ?I don't think many people use oats, but it soaks up some of the fat and juices and makes it very soft.

I know, that's why I buy it. But my hypothetical shrew of a wife will moan that it makes her feel bloated. I'll put up with it because I love her and don't feel like arguing, but every once in a while I'll still buy 2% just because I like it.

Unless of course my dream woman likes 2%.

My mother made meatloaf with Liption French Onion soup mix and I absolutely hated it. She’d serve it with baked potatoes and creamed corn. I would gag on it. My least favorite meal. Blech. I remember throwing it up into a water glass because I was trying to drink to wash it down.

So because of that I never liked meatloaf

My mom is an amazing cook I guess I just hated that spice mix and creamed corn
