there are no steps I skip, but I'd do a lot in a lazy way.

one step that seems to be a total meme is washing mushrooms. not sure why you're supposed to just trust mushrooms for some reason. who the fuck knows what they do to them, how they got to you, what kind of stuff is in the frills or whatever you call them. and what the F is the difference anyway? No, it's great

>you’re supposed to add just the right amount for There are more methods to cook rice. This method gives non-starchy rice that does not stick together. It also removes more arsenic than just washing it.

Open pot method for cooking rice:

1. Start with washing rice until water runs clear. Soak for 30 minutes.

2. Boil water, 10 times more water than rice. Add 10 grams of salt pr. litre of water.

3. Add the rice, do not put on lid. Boil until rice is almost as tender as you want it. This goes quick, about 5 minutes with many kinds.

4. Drain through a sieve, put rice back in the pot.

The tricky part is to match how much water you drain with how cooked the rice is. Less cooked, leave more water.

5. Let sit in the pot on low to no heat for at least 5 minutes/until done.
