It's because people recently realized regular beers and coolers have a fuckton of sugar and calories, so hard seltzers have become an insanely huge meme. It's annoying going to a liquor store and seeing a massive section of nothing but near-identical white cans of 100 brands of hard seltzer will stupid names like "Nutrl" or "Pyur"

White Claw just got huge because they were doing viral marketing through TikTok, Instagram, etc. They invented that phrase "there's no laws while drinking claws" but pretend they don't like that phrase because it makes them look bad. The drink literally became a meme in itself.

When it came to Canada there were lineups outside of stores on the launch day and they were sold out everywhere for ages.

White Claw simply tastes the best out of all the hard seltzers. Most of them are either too syrupy, or too chemical-y, or too sugary, but WC strikes the perfect balance. Plus it has very aesthetic packaging. It also has the perfect stats of 100 calories / 5% alcohol, a lot of the other ones are either 4%/4.5% or 110-120 calories, which is important when you're binge drinking a case of them.

Michelobe Ultra isn't even cheap, it's pretty pricey for cheap beer. Back in my college days it was Natty Ice, 5.9% ABV. Honestly, at least where I am, Labatt Blue is cheaper than Michelobe Ultra and is way better.
