BSE came from the UK. Unlike the recent chink flu, it was acceptable to shut down related travel, close borders to the infected, and destroy all the infected individuals before it became a global issue. It's presently a non-issue.

IIRC, mad cow disease is only an issue with cuts that contain a part of the central nervous system, so basically only T-bones and neck. 90% of the meat is still fine.

>trusting them that if one of those things does come into contact with the rest of the animal, that it gets detected and the proper channels all get contacted and ensure a massive, expensive level of sanitation and extermination will take place

would you let a random crack addict watch your house and babysit your kids for a week, too? do you trust nigerian prince who email you and say they will share their billion dollar fortune with you if you give them your bank account information?

I don't need to worry about germs because I'm a self reliant alpha male and we're not afraid of some little sniffles. George Carlin once said this modern "science" by the so-called "Doctor" Anthony Fauci is cultural marxism. Got some news for ya kid: two genders. Two foods: Steak. Whisky. Done. Put some hair on your balls kid.

You know produce can easily get contaminated with diseases too right? It's not like only meat is dirty. Water can be contaminated too. By your logic you should never eat or drink anything because it could possibly give you a disease.

>> No.14682542

>>14682530
Actually, the most common food recallsdue to contamination are produce. Nowadays most cases of food poisoning come from poorly washed or uncooked produce. The fear of meat was the result of a number of government initiatives based on early 20th century incidents where meat dishes were being kept warm by electric heat far longer than they should have been.
If you or a loved one is ever immune-suppressed, typically following a transplant operation, there's a long list of common vegetables that you're urged to avoid due to how often they're found to be contaminated.

>People can get a version of BSE called variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD). As of 2019, 232 people worldwide are known to have become sick with vCJD, and unfortunately, they all have died. It is thought that they got the disease from eating food made from cows sick with BSE.

Who gives a fuck about a few hundred people?

tfw I never wash my produce, in extreme cases where it's covered in dirt I just rub it off with a wet paper towel, not put it under the faucet (water quality in my area is shit so that would probably actually make it more dirty)

I haven't gotten sick in years though

>> No.14682592

It really depends on the product. The top offenders are stuff with a large surface area and high humidity like bean sprouts, or those ridiculous preshredded lettuce/cabbage bags. Rest assured, you're probably not gonna die as long as you're not on immunosuppressants or anything. Even the worst bugs that cause brainmelting fevers don't do much lasting damage if your immune system is fine.

what in the fuck is this false flag cow shit thread?
there is absolutely nothing unsafe about eating beef that's been raised in a humane way. cows can get mad cow disease when they their feed is made up of ground up cows that carried the disease.
Humans get CJD (disease similar to mad cow) from having a cannibal diet and eating humans that carried the disease. You wouldn't eat another person so why the fuck would anyone but beef in cattle feed.
>grass-fed cattle virtually entirely eliminates the risk of the cows getting mad cow disease.
responsibly source your fucking meat products and this isn't an issue.

>> No.14684536

>>14681881
That's deer, not beef, and there's no link between CWD and BSE, nor has any link been established between CWD and any human disease (unlike BSE, which has been probably, but not conclusively, linked to variant-CJD in humans). CWD appeared decades before BSE: it was first documented in 1967 (in captive mule deer in Colorado), whereas the first case of BSE was in 1986 (in Britain; the first case in North America was in 1993, in Canada).

There's a major anti-meat push on recently from certain elements in the environmental lobby and the big corporations (including large multinationals like Nestle) that are heavily invested in plant-based "meat."
