shumai or pot stickers. I just love a steamed dumpling, or one with a nice browned fried exterior. A steamed pork bun would be mandatory if on the menu. Same with sesame or scallion pancakes.

Very quick food experience of mine in China:
Any duck - God tier
Century egg as ingredient somewhere else - Awesome
Abalone and feet of any animal - overrated
Any weird animal (ie jelly fish, etc.) Tasteless
Any hot salad (ie boiled lettuce) Disgusting

As a kid I used to ask for these all the time.
Now as an adult I'm somehow still getting them without even asking, it's fucking ridiculous, it's happened at more than just 1 place. I think i'm going to ask about it one day, like if i'm getting it for free maybe there's a second option i can have instead cause these things kinda suck
