Never seen strange styles from Einbecker neither. Maybe it's just for export markets. But as the other guy said most traditional breweries aren't into more modern or nondomestic styles. Some tried, but nobody bought it.
Germans just buy crates on sale anyway so it has to be the classic styles.

Holy shit, what a difference it makes to have it made at the OG brewery, and not spend a million years in transit to the states.

I was also passing through Virginia once, and had some stout from a company called Old Bust Head. That was good.

Also, unpopular opinion here, but lager is piss.

>all I can find in America is cans brewed in Vietnam
You know that American alcohol laws are more like the disparate laws of 54 different countries... right?
And, if you're the anon with ties to a wine/beer shop, you know that your distributors are further limiting your options, and the state you're in is limiting your distributor pool.

It's a damn mess, and people in other states can get Japanese made beer.
Spoilage... all I know is that ASD in Murrica has been Canadian since the 80s, since it spoiled on the boat. Not sure where it's brewed now, but since the whole point of IPAs started as "a kind of beer that won't spoil on the boat", it's plausible.

OP, I find the Asahi Super Dry really refreshing. The US used to have "dry" beers, but they died out in the 80s. I find it hard to buy the right version of Asahi in the US, but it pairs so nicely with edamame.

What makes this stuff and Sapporo different from other macrolagers? Is Sapporo superior?

>> No.14664631

>>14664579
According to BeerAdvocate, this is the description. People love or hate a dry beer. It's preference, but the food pairing is excellent. Sapporo isn't a dry beer.

Asahi Super Dry was a direct result of extensive market research which indicated a consumer preference for a more palatable beer with less maltiness, relatively high alcohol content and a light aftertaste, that paired well with the changing Japanese diet. With this insight Asahi used its brewing knowledge to develop a beer with a crisp bite, refreshing taste and clear finish to satisfied this requirement. Code named project FX, Asahi engineered a highly attenuated, highly carbonated pilsner. The later renamed product, Super Dry began sales on March 17th 1987 and gave birth to the dry beer category. The market success spawned similar competitor products and initiated what was known as the “Dry Wars” in Japan and a brief marketing fad for dry beers internationally. However Asahi has stood the test of time and now years later Super Dry continues it legacy as the world’s premier dry beer.

Special Yeast - Asahi # 318 is the proprietary ingredient used to give Super Dry its “dryness”. This special strand of yeast produces high attenuation during fermentation in conjunction with the choice grains.

Finest Ingredients – Asahi uses select grains and hops sourced worldwide based on strict criteria to maintain flavor consistency and promote sustainability. Barely with high starch content and both noble style bitter and fine aroma hops are key contributors to Super Dry’s smooth taste.

My absolutely favorite beer was a one-off gose brewed with pluots specifically for a tasting course at a restaurant nearby. So that hardly counts. I love wild ales and sours, but they're usually expensive. I really dig Allagash Curieux too, but given that it's an aged tripel, it's also usually annoyingly expensive. If I had to choose an everyday, drink all the time beer...I'd choose pic related.

I got a job with a small distributor as my 1st job out of college. Started in their non alc division selling Red Bull/Snapple/etc to gas stations/drug stores/grocery stores. I got promoted to their alc division and sold the full company portfolio of beer and liquor. Had a ton of really great beer brands, everything from PBR and Sierra Nevada, to niche stuff like 12% imports and St Bernardus. From there I got a sales job with one of the big national craft brands. I did that for two years, then I got an offer in a different industry paying significantly more.

I miss it sometimes; it’s a good job if you’re in your early 20’s and single. However, especially if you work for a supplier, there’s a lot of evening and weekend work that gets old pretty quickly.

Best way to get in would be to find out who the distributors in your area are, and check their careers page. You would probably have to start as a merchandiser, though. Every distributor is different. I can answer some more questions if you have any more.

IIRC the OG brewery in Pottsville handles the northeast and midwest, and they have one in Tampa or something that handles distribution to the south. It's really cheap here in Jersey too, I'm closer to NYC than I am to Philly but it's my go to beer.
