What's the point of making stuff artificial anymore? Natural tastes better and with natural ingredients there are also natural preservatives. >Obligatory "Do Americans really?"

The reason Kraft makes that is to sell product and make money. They don't care if you think natural tastes better.

>> No.14651239

1. Kraft do make real cheese that comes in deli bags this is just a different product
2. American cheese is less expensive for each ounce of cheese
3. It has a different texture that tastes "good enough" compared to real cheese when you have a sandwich with other toppings or something toasted
4. It melts onto things much easier
5. The slices are individually wrapped and it is more shelf stable than normal cheese you can keep an opened package with the remaining 10 or so slices in the refrigerator for like 6 months before they start going rancid

its kind of like asking why they put Cheese whiz on "Authentic Philly Cheesesteaks" even though its gross and not "real cheese"

It is cheese. The only thing remotely "weird" is that they add Vit D and a mold inhibitor. Most of you fags don't realize how cheese is really made and how milk ingredients are used piecemeal and enzymes are used to get the reactions that they require.

>> No.14654150

>>14654147
Also, it's labeling requirements. Half of that label would just be "milk" in the UK, for example.

>> No.14654153

>>14654147
It’s cheese, mixed with milk and emulsifiers. It’s more like a slice of cheese sauce than pure cheese. That’s why it melts so well

>> No.14654163

>>14654153
Yeah, but what makes that more artificial than "artisanal" cheesemaking? What makes rennet okay but NaCit isn't?

>> No.14654168

>>14654163
It’s less traditional and also the creation of processed cheese usually involves melting down a bunch of relatively low quality cheeses then mixing them together with the milk and emulsifiers. Hypothetically you could do the same with better cheese but it’s not really done commercially

There are good quality American cheeses. I do usually have a small pack of Kraft in the fridge because they just last so long. But like Boar's Head or something, you can get better American. Even still it's just a melting cheese and I use it for burgers, then maybe the leftover for grilled cheese. BH will go moldy after like 2 weeks after opening.

>> No.14654306

>>14651173
Because Americans prefer it to cheese.

>Natural tastes better and with natural ingredients there are also natural preservatives.
This sounds disgusting to many americans. Natural implies it would taste natural which just has a nasty sound to americans, as if it's full of soil and dirt and bacteria. And how can you trust natural preservatives to kill the nasty stuff? No way. Things have to be made at a labratory with artificial preservaties to be good.

Unironically kraft fake cheese makes a better grilled cheese than fancy real cheese because fancy real cheese doesn't melt, it's turns into a greasy mess

Yes of course. Having some dirt and soil left on the vegetables is good for the immune system. And we eat fermented foods like sauerkraut that has lots of living bacteria in them.
