I love white wine, I’ve yet to have a red that’s wows me as much as a good Montrachet does. I’ve tried decent bottles of red but always find them underwhelming. The only reds I’ve ever truly enjoyed were fortified.

It's not unusual for two people to share a bottle of wine, but when you have a third guest one bottle might not be enough anymore.

Let's say we're having a wine party where every guest drinks the same amount of wine. Now suppose as a rule that for any wine party we need exactly one less bottles of wine than the number of guests. Notice that for larger and larger numbers of guests, the amount of wine per guest approaches one bottle (750 ml). In fact, there is some finite number of guests where the amount of wine each person gets is, in human terms, imperceptibly different than a full bottle of wine.

But how can that be when we KNOW we bought exactly one less bottle than the number of guests at our party?

Now take this a step further. What if we buy two less bottles than the number of guests? Three less? It seems like for any finite number of bottles less than the number of guests at your party, there is some number of guests you can invite where each one gets arbitrarily close to 750 ml.

red wine is more complex in flavor, cause it includes the skin, thus more tannins. wine used to be weaker on alcohol. its basically a way to preserve your fruit harvest and consume it for years not days. its great for hard working people who need a lot of calories, and its a safe hydration method when water is horrible and dangerous. so, like tea, coffee, beer, a way to stay alive during hard times. now its an indulgence, it used to be a necessity. white wine is probably harder to process. try beaujolais neuveao, from france, available in october or so from grapes harvested that year. very fresh and fruity. thats what most people drink historically, not stuff aged for years. that became a status thing. buy the bottom shelf wine at a good shop, its still good, just simpler. all wine in france is good, the pricy stuff is just more complex. its a raw, fermented food. that is all i have, bugger off now
