cured/dried meat thread. no jerky allowed. no dehydrators allowed. If it isn't cured and dried in a warm dry place then it's not welcome in this thread. Chewing on some home-made Biltong at the moment, what are you faggots having ?

How long did the whole process take? Where did you hang the meat to dry?

I really like teriyaki jerky, it's the tits. But I'll settle for peppered. Great jerky thread, OP!

This used to be my go-to for DnD session snacks but it's been steadily rising in price, I can't find it under $12 anymore. Some places are trying to charge as much as $20. I'm gonna start making my own jerky again but I need to wait for my shitty roommate to move out so I can have a horizontal surface that doesn't have some of his bullshit on it.

Didn't read all your bullshit OP but have you heard about biltong? It's objectively the best cured meat

That sounds good, I really ought to try more tea now that I'm cutting back on other drinks.

I could outright tell him to move it and often do, I own the house. The problem is that he's like a fucking child and the idea that I want space cleared will only stick in his head for like 1 day before he's back to just setting shit down in the most convenient place instead of where it actually goes. I've told him to GTFO but I still have to put up with him until he can actually move.

I never really cared for beef jerky until I went to South Africa and tried biltong for the first time, it is really delicious and totally different than the gross sugary American version. I tried some exotic cured meats too like kudu, ostrich, some other animal I don't remember. Also, I was surprised how Lays chips were way better in SA; they were almost all fully intact and weren't as overwhelmingly salty and just all around better tasting.
