>used to work at fast casual place as a manager
>worked 60-70 hours a week for $15/hr
>thought I was living in hell, even though all my coworkers were my best friends and I was able to exercise at work
>get a government desk job last month
>work fewer hours, pay is way better, but the work is repetitive and soul-sucking
>work with obese bitches and cynical, lazy backstabbers
>want to kill myself after each shift
>gaining weight from sitting on my ass all day
>family is proud I'm "moving up" but I just want my trashy food service job back
Any other co/ck/s relate?

Oh yeah, I totally loved working in a 110 degree kitchen with no paid breaks, a lunch break 2 hours into a 11 hour shift, no vacation pay, and a 5 minute interrogation whenever I tried to call out sick and then the eventual "we got along fine without you yesterday" anyways fuck that shit.

being a cook sucks ass though, if anything being a dishwasher is the most kino job in the kitchen as long as you don't have to bus tables

Yeah, my kitchen was never like this. We did a lot of our prep in the morning, so most of the people on my crew got to take their breaks exactly halfway through their shift.

I miss that life, OP. Pic related how I looked while on the train after an average night shift. I would have liked to work at a different place with more people though.

>was a dishwasher for 2 years.

On days where it wasn’t terrible it was peaceful in a way.

On days where I was rushed I would’ve shot myself had a pistol been provided free of charge.

it wasn't even about prep our owner was just a fucking retard and wanted all breaks done by 2pm even though our dinner rush wouldn't start until 5pm.

You do realize that there are both good and shitty employers out there.

Sure it is stressfull, hard at times and not for everyone but I loved it and
nothing has been able to scratch that itch when there is a rush and your
team works like a well oiled machine.

Sure we only had 1h breaks in total on a 8h day and 12h would only net you
an extra 15minutes (not restaurant but food and in the chain just another spot
so to speak) but you could take it whenever you wanted as long as you coordinated
with your team and had a work phone with you in case if it was during a time when a
rush of customers could occur but if you were one of those cunts that took lunch and
breaks (except breakfast) at special times going away for 30-45minutes when needed
the most then you wouldn't have an easy time, be rest assured everyone else would
leave you whenever it gets busy and eventually your car would have accidents and you
would slowly be forced out but if you where a fren and cool dude you would likely like me
almost have more fun at work than at home and I had a pretty sweet life on my leisure time
back then

>> No.14620400

>>14619908
yeah i didn't give a fuck about my "team" being "well-oiled" because even if i did well on my station our dipshit kitchen manager that went to culinary school and totally knew how to do everyone's job better than them would shit on anyone's efforts and then go outside to smoke weed while we closed for the night.

it's a shit industry that attracts shit people because they have nothing else going for them. you're not supposed to see coworkers as family, you're not supposed to have more fun at work than outside of work, that doesn't mean you have a good job it just means your life fucking sucks outside of it.

>> No.14620447

Well I became the manager but yes it is a industry that seems
to attract the worst of the worst at times and sociopaths seem to
love it kind of like flies on shit but it can be something great that
you don't really quite get in other industries, at least I haven't tried
a job that really scratches that itch.

Family? No not a chance, sure my team become close but of course
I wanted to beat the shit out of at least one of 'em on a permanent basis.

I know that it doesn't matter at all what I say but my life wasn't bad on
my spare time (except too little time too much to do) I just loved my job
and haven't found anything I liked that much since

Ahh..I remember that boot sheen. Variance was slight whether you were line, prep or DishDoggy.
t. I don't miss kitchens at all. They're ok and even kind of fun while you're younger, but if you're still in kitchens over the age of 40, It'd best have a star or 3, or you's better be a manager.
