you must be retarded if you can't square the radius. you don't even need pi to make the comparison. it's not "counterintuitive" it's circles. you should have learned how circles work ages ago

I mean, it really only works for smaller pies

If you get 2 larges for the same price as an extra large, it's a better deal

1 18 inch < 2 16 inches

But the two 12" have more circumference and therefore crust.

>> No.14542576

>>14542196
If only there were some middle school math to calculate that too...

There's ~75 inches of crust on the 2 12 inch pizzas, and only ~57 inches of crust on the 18 inch.

Two pizzas are still better and practically more fulfilling, at least psychologically.

When eating, we aren't thinking about shit like this. We see two pizzas at 8 slices each and in our minds it must be more filling than 8 slices of a bigger pizza. Plus, let's say you are just one guy, you may be able to eat one whole pizza by yourself, but you would probably stop there and not touch the second pizza and save it for tomorrow. Thus the two pizzas provided you two days of food, whereas the one big pizza only lasted you one day.

it's fucking insane to me when i'm getting pizza with someone and they're like "uh i don't want those toppings i just want like pepperoni so we'll just order 2 mediums instead"
and i have to calculate the fucking area of the pizza to show that they're paying like twice the money to get 2 mediums instead of a single half-and-half large, for the same area.

>> No.14543401

find me a single menu where you get more square footage of pizza per dollar with two "smaller pizzas" instead of one larger one.

>> No.14543410

>>14542507
there's more pizza, dumbass. there's less area of crust per area of pizza on a larger pizza. the circumference grows linearly with radius, but area grows exponentially. the crust:non-crust ratio on a small pizza is higher than on a bigger pizza, because the crust width doesn't change but the depth of a slice does.

>> No.14543615

>>14543545
you're right about that, the calorie numbers do not add up. i wonder why the extra large is half as calorically dense for the same area of pizza. i would assume its a rounding issue. maybe crust has the bulk of calories with the butter coating?

im retarded you tricked me. the fucking large costs less than two mediums. of course there are fewer calories. the calories per dollar are almost identical and the large is 8$ vs 12$ for two mediums. of course the mediums have more calories.

>> No.14544836

>>14542715
It's not that complicated. Just measure the width of the crust, subtract it from the total diameter to get the diameter of the cheesy inner circle.
Don't forget that there two crusts, so if the crust is 0.5 inches, the inner circles would be 17 and 11 respectively.
Then, you just find that area and subtract from the total area.

This is obvious, but what's more interesting is if you can think of situations where 2 pizzas are better than a bigger one. Feeding 16 people since generally pizza is never cut 16 ways.
