BMI is a useless statistic unless measured correctly. When I was in the army the height weight chart always put me at 25+ because I am short and lift. But when they took actual tape measurements (still not the best way) it would say I was around 15%.

I actually think I should go to the doctor because I unironically think I have a hormonal disorder, in the past 5 months I've gained close to 40lbs and I can't seem to lose any weight even if I try fasting and go on strict calorie restriction. Actually there seems to be muscle wasting when I do that, my arms and legs are getting scrawny but my fat stays exactly the same

Well what you can do is actually count the calories at the start of the week when you go to the grocery store and put them in a basket.
You aren't allowed to eat anything that isn't in the basket.
Nothing else goes in the basket until next week.

There are many causes of weight loss- but weight gain?
Only one cause, more calories in than out.

so I do jiujitsu and a few months back I had a pretty traumatic throat injury from a choke, it shattered my thyroid cartilage. And I wonder if it didn't fuck up my actual thyroid directly
and in addition to that I a few months ago got smashed in the nuts too and it was a pretty hard shot that took me weeks to recover from, so I'm wondering if my T levels didn't take a hit also

I haven't been checked to see if anything is normal or not with either of those hormonal situations
