Delicious if you like wormwood and the idea of a herbal and spiced wine. Useful for very classic cocktails, like the Manhattan, the Martinez, the Martini, the Negroni, the Boulevardier, so on and so forth. You can do riffs on those ideas, but being a much older type of cocktail it's a lot harder to innovate than with a sour.

Yes, but unless ure going to use it very often it's kind of bad investion. Antica Formula is almost 30€ here for example. Bought a bottle of the red wine Martini for 15 bucks in winter, but hadn't used it much and it already lost a lot of its actual flavour. Buying the cheap 6€ Martini just because it doesn't hurt as much as the expensive vermouths to throw it away isn't an option neither, because it just doesn't taste as good.

If you're actually interested in trying some, for a cocktail or something, under NO CIRCUMSTANCES buy Martini and Rossi. My retard boomer parents thought for my entire life that they hated vermouth, and so did I, until I went to a bar and my friend had already ordered me a Manhattan. Turns out, they'd literally never tried or poured me any vermouth except Martini and Rossi. EVERY OTHER VERMOUTH tastes 100000X better than them.
If you're interested in trying it out, Carpano Antico is a very good sweet vermouth (tasty enough to just drink on its own even), and Dolin is a very good dry vermouth (though this is basically only useful for martinis, as dry vermouth is a much more specific taste that can't really ever be enjoyed on its own).
