How do you make carnitas?

What's the best way to do it? Dutch oven? Stovetop?

Slowcooker is my way to go

After cooking for 5-6 hrs meat is super tender

Does it get crispy? How do you season it?

I just use lawrys seasoning salt, half an orange worth of juice, a small amount of cumin, and some red chili powder honestly it comes out very tender but not too crispy.

If you want crispy, then buy some pork spareribs (cheap and available anywhere)
Take some oil enough to cover the entire bottom of a pot and a little more and fry the spareribs in the oil just season with salt or lawrys. Then remove bone. Should come out pretty easy, chop up the meat and there you go.

Slowcooker on low for 8 hrs then put it in a sheet pan and broil it for a couple minutes if you want crispy. Slice a yellow onion real thin and line the bottom of the dish with them.

Seasoning: salt, sugar, black pepper, white pepper, hot pepper, chili powder, cinnamon, cumin, oregano, etc

Does it end up tasting as good as it is in restaurants?

A lot of recipes call for shit like coke, beer, or sweetened condensed milk; is it worth using a meme ingredient? I'm frying the meat in lard of course.

Id avoid any of those ingredients and just stick to the basics. I've made these recipes before and thwy taste pretty damn good. Usually just make them into tacos so hard to compare to restaurant carnitas but the flavor is the same.

I really hate it when Joshua says that, its actually physically disgusting to me.

I make it using sous vide, 165ish for 12-16 hours. Then, I let it rest in the fridge overnight and reheat it in an oven, pan, or my airfryer. The last step is what gets it crispy.

For seasoning, I just use oranges, cinnamon sticks, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. I'm still playing around with the seasoning though and I might end up cutting out cinnamon entirely. Considering adding something like vinegar towards the end to brighten up the flavor.
