If I use plantains instead of bananas to make banana bread is it still banana bread?

>> No.14479085

no it's plantain bread, or "a banana bread recipe with plantains substituted for bananas"

>> No.14479089

>>14479080
It is literally plantain bread.

I went on wikipedia to look at plantains and the article redirected to bananas instead and it said that they are banana cultivars. Why are you lying?

Just do it OP, but use ripe plantains as they are closer to bananas.

Funny enough this question recently came up in my household.

The conclusion was that you cant use plantains to replace bananas, they have different texture. But maybe if you grill the plantains inside their skin first. It might work.

Plantains are bananas though, technically speaking plantain bread is just banana bread and banana bread is plantain bread.

I microwave plantains in their skins before making tostones.
