I saw a commercial for one of those food boxes delivered to peoples' homes that began with "Cooking's a waste of time and nobody likes to do it" and it made me really sad.

equipment:
metal shopping cart
- Free from local alleyway
wood
- Free
fire
- Free

ingredients:
day-old bread with sesame seeds
- $1.00 for a loaf
sub-par ground beef
- $2.00 for a pound
lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion
- $3.00 tops
mayo, ketchup
- $1.00 for way too fucking much of it

That's $7 for four 4oz Whoppers, compared to BK's $4.19 for one (according to their website).

Some people are so indoctrinated into the consumerist cycle they are incapable of taking satisfaction in anything that doesn't require a financial transaction. Its mental illness that is ignored because it benefits the powers that be.

Growing up, my mom had only teflon pots and pans but used a gadget and maker and microwave for almost everything. She couldn't cut strawberries without the strawberry top cutter or make donuts without the non-stick donut maker. Bread was an insurmountable task that had to be thrown in a bread maker. I started learning to cook slightly better than that when I got out on my own, but there were a lot of things I considered out of the realm of consideration or possibly until I saw it pointed out or discussed by this board. I thought anything that required more effort than chunky cuts and seasoning and pan frying, baking, or stewing wasn't possible for normal people (non-iron chefs) because practically no one cooks like that anymore. My saving grace was that I couldn't stand drawers full of gadgets and cupboards full of small appliances so I started learning how to do certain things with knives and using a pot on the stove then oven instead of slow cookers. Stuff like that. The indoctrination is so deep that the newer generations don't know life before all these retarded "tools" that just make everything shittier, more annoying, and a pain to clean. And they legitimately don't know that food can taste good when cooked right.
