Having a pipe tobacco session with a dark burley kentucky blend is like sex after the desert.

It compliments with drinks and the flavors of pipe tobaccos are amazing.

Lets have a tobacco pipe general.

the appeal is really taste, the process involved preparing, and just getting some alone time in. The aroma, the taste and how/where you do is all part of it. Also, you get a nice subtle nicotine buzz that isn't like cigarettes, it's a super relaxing buzz that's hard to explain. And i would be lying if there isn't something aesthetically pleasing of all of it.

Going to start pipe smoking next month, switching from cigs to cigars & pipes. Actually starting a very small cigar business because I can get good stuff for very cheap (good friends who live in the DR) but it's mostly just a passion project & I'm only selling at a few cigar shops and directly to a few other clients. Don't know that much about pipe smoking & I've only tried Night Cap. Any recommendations for a beginner, looking for something with a very pleasant aroma.

Ive gotten the most compliments on C&D Autumn Evening. Usually so long as its some sort of heavy virginia/black Cavendish blend with little to no burly to latakia, the smell is very pleasant. Some cheaper options are most of the sweet Sutliff blends, like rum & maple, chocolate, and honey. Personally I hate the way most latakia blends smell. I love the way Maltese Falcon tastes but I get kicked out of the house if I wanna light up

once you try it, you can't go back to cigs. The tobacco and paper they put in cigs is incredibly shitty, not to mention the thought of putting anything in your lungs other than air will make you cringe.

If you want to start, i recommend getting an estate pipe off of ebay pipe or a site like smokingpipes, or if you can shell it get a new pipe like from savenelli or peterson. Also get one that can use a filter (preferably a 9mm) even if you don't use a filter you can later.

As far as tobacco, i'm pretty new too.

There is a theory that Virginia based blends do better in taller, more narrow bowls and English blends do better in shorter, wider bowls to better taste the flavors but it is all very subjective.

Bent pipes are typically better as clenchers (where you hold the pipe and it's weight is supported by your teeth) due to leverage and gravity and all that sciencey stuff.

In the end is just boils down to aesthetics and what is comfortable for you.

My grandfather smoked a pipe, seemed to have a pleasant cherry scent to it that I enjoyed when I visited him or he went to his smoking chair or out on the patio after a family holiday meal. No idea the kind, but it was something expensive or not easily found, because his sons bought it on special occasions for him from a specialty shop. I've always liked the scent. I like cigar scent too.

However, to a point. Emphysema and a nasty cough in your later years? Oh hell no, wouldn't wish that on anyone, let alone some kind of cancer. Smoking wrecks your lungs, esp a filterless experience. In the day of covid? I wouldn't even be playing around with anything that can contribute to my mortality from this disease or whatever it will morph into next year (and so ono) or make me susceptable to symptoms of it for years.
