Surprisingly, the San Francisco Bay Area. My favorite is a good old Super Duper Burger with a strawberry milkshake. It is expensive though. There are other good cheaper places, but my favorite burgers ever were from this one Russian place that had tons of weird exotic illegally sourced meats like crocodile and horse. The burgers weren't amazing but it was novel to eat a snake burger

Beef cattle are mostly west of the Mississippi river and east of the Rocky mountains.
So Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Montana are pretty common.
There are cattle elsewhere, but that's where you find the big ranches and grazing lands.
The "burger belt" tends to be along the Mississippi river, along the traditional railheads for where the cattle drives stopped and the meat processing plants were to ship packaged meat east to the cities.

>> No.14452471

Deep flyover land. They might eat a little more beef, but they're also scared of eating beef with any pink in it, so you're not going to find the best of anything in those areas.

What's yours? McDonald's is a fast food chain, not a restaurant. And this is a thread about the best burgers, so obviously only places that actually cook the meat to your desired temp are relevant.

This is true if you've had Wattaburgers. For anywhere else, you're going to need a specialty restaurant. New York will have you driving to the suburbs of Saratoga for the Juicy Burger. The Midwestern United States has gastronomical monuments everywhere. Bru Burger, the now dearly departed Black Swan, and Ted's Klassics are but a few of the top tier burgers you cannot find anywhere else in the world. You could go for a smaller establishment such as Burger Theory or Taxman, but they are more of a professional niche portion of haute hams, steamed over exquisite imported woods from exotic lands with each tree carefully selected by the cooks themselves.

>> No.14452870

>starts off with fast food chain war bullshit

Thank you for illustrating everything wrong with OP's question. Every region in the US makes burgers, but two places across the street from each other might have the best burger you've ever had and a burger that's complete garbage. Reducing the question to fast food or regional chain restaurants immediately cuts out most of the best burgers and just turns it into a contest over who does the best job keep their head above the water of mediocrity. It's almost like you went into a thread asking for the best beer region in the US and answered, "wherever Budweiser is made".

>> No.14452932

I gotta go with the Midwest.

>High concentration of dairy, produce, and cattle farms.

>Particular affinity for fried foods and beer

>Lots of long standing family owned meat processors and butchers. Small batch/unique bacon, sausages, cured and smoked meats of any kind are readily available.

I don't think I could be convinced otherwise.

Having a lot of empty space to grow beef doesn't translate into having good taste.

None of those have anything to do with burgers.
