There's a grocery store on the north shore of Oahu called foodland that makes poke bowls at their deli counters. 3 years stationed there, that was the best fuckin poke I ever found on that godforsaken island. Their spicy tuna poke was delicious.

So the only time I’ve had it is at the mall in Los Angeles, so it’s from a chain, but I put together what’s basically a sushi bowl:
white rice
tuna and salmon
Ponzu and wasabi mayo
edamame
roe
shredded carrot
furikake with seaweed

Basically fifty dollars of sushi ingredients in a twelve dollar bowl totally worth it. I used to get ginger but they throw in way too much and it’s much better to get double roe.

Pokes are great but overpriced. I used to order them via Uber Eats when there was 1+1 promotion. But they’re easy to make at home, I just get smoked salmon instead of sashimi.
