Depends on the place, living in a small midwestern town sucks. One place near me has decent lo mein and kung pao chicken, another place has good broccoli beef, sweet and sour, and egg fu yung. But just to relate how fucking pleb it is around here with all the baby palates, the kung pao has almost no heat, and the sweet and sour comes boxed, dry, with a cup of dipping sauce. No sauteed onion or peppers or pineapple like you'd expect at a place that actually knew what they were doing.

You could get Jasmine rice at a Thai restaurant, and likely very little else, because it costs more. You will get just ordinary medium-long grain white rice, or do brown rice for an upcharge or special request.
