You could try fish sticks. Do you like fish sticks? Specifically, in your mouth?

You don't have to start cooking it. Just buy some canned sardines, mussels and oysters and see how you like them.
Then you can move on to shrimp, crab and lobster if it's to your taste.

The canned stuff is way disgusting than getting it fresh. He should just go for fried dishes then maybe grilled /sauted in a sauce then steamed. I like seafood and cant stand the canned stuff

yeah, bit i already knew about the canned stuff. I mean an actual dish to prepar, and something with a bit of a challlenge, nothing super basic.

This guy is correct. Canned seafood is going to be very strong since much is packed in oil.
Try boiling/steaming fresh or frozen shrimp, make a garlic butter dip and enjoy.

If you are a picky faggot don't get anything in that picture. White fish like tilapia, flounder, haddock is all very mild and easy to cook. Breaded is also good and you can do fish tacos. Shrimp or scallops make great pasta dishes from simple white wine sauces, alfredo sauces, or fra diavolo. Crab cakes are delicious (and crab cakes benedict) and you can practice making a hollandaise sauce. Lots of fish pairs well with asparagus and rice too. Clams and mussels are great and easy to cook but picky eaters don't always like them but lemon/butter/herb/white wine is great to toss them in. Its important to get good clean ones and wash them properly or you will be eating tons of sand. Same goes for oysters.

anon please don't do this

Simple shrimp dishes are about the hardest to screw up.
Simple also means you get to taste the new to you food, and not the sauce that's burying it.

Shrimp, butter, little squeeze of lime, little bit of garlic... toss with spaghetti or bucatini.
Shrimp is really only a few minutes to cook (takes longer to shell and devein), pleasant, mild, and seafood-y.

try lemon pepper cod.

Cod is a entry level fish with a very light "fishy" taste compared to most. A nice lemon pepper rub won't ruin the natural taste but could give you a nice introduction to the world of fish.

Pair with a dry white wine never red. Or I find an ice tea also goes well if you don't drink.

Do not try deenz, oysters or mussels first. They're way too strong. Try things like shrimp, white fish, scallops and salmon and progress.

If I were you I'd buy some frozen salmon, dethaw it and cook it 2.5 mins each side on medium high heat in a bit of oil then try it to see if you like it. Or just go get a shrimp platter.

Shrimp is great, you can cook or season it pretty much anyway you want and it will turn out good.

If you've got a problem with strange textures avoid shellfish. I love fish but certain textures put me on the edge of vomiting for some reason, and basically every shellfish falls into that spectrum.

OP this is the way to go

Or, for as simple as you can get:
Fry some shrimp in a little oil
Throw some red pepper flakes on them
Deglaze with a glug of white wine, lid on and steam til they're cooked
Plate up and squeeze a lemon over em

Don't forget to devein them

Definitely don't start with canned shit. Go get a fish taco or some Chinese fried shrimp.

>> No.14408440

Buy some jumbo raw shrimp, look on YouTube how to peel the shell and devein them. Melt butter and garlic in a pan, cook the shrimp that for 1:45 minutes on each side and it’s done. Also black pepper on the shrimp

By sea food i thought you meant stuff like oysters, scampi, lobsters etc

But no fish either? How come? You lived in a country that has no access to water?

For fish I guess Salmon would be easiest? Easy to cook and not that fishy

Well seasoned white fish like swordfish or mahimahi grilled can taste almost like steak.

Still, deenz on a saltine with a little mustard with the fridge door open at midnight is also a nice treat.

If you're not used to the taste of fish or seafood, Sardines are going to probably not be the best start. You need to find something that's bland and neutral and fresh. They're expensive, but I think scallops are going to be a good first step into the waters. Shrimp are going to be easier and cheaper to find.

The important thing with seafood, is that it's easy to overcook it. We're used to cooking meat and chicken and shit, so you need to do yourself a solid and watch some youtube videos and learn how to properly cook these things so that you get the best outcome.

I'm glad you're coming out of your safety bubble. It takes guts to try something new and scary. I hope you don't let one bad experience (bad seafood does happen) turn you away from trying other things.

Norwegian Mackerel have a lot of natural oils in them. The oil is thick and coats your hands, and it's very fishy. However, when you cook it, the oil melts and gives the fish a buttery flavor. It's my favorite. Usually grilled or broiled so it's got that crispy top layer. I hope you get to try it someday!

Filo prawns with sweet chilli dip.
Breaded cod.
Smoked haddock.

They're safe bets to start out with.

Seconding breaded/fried cod. Basic white filet o' fish cod is seafood easy-mode. Cod is sort of the tofu of the fish world. They don't really have any flavor except what you add to it.

Any place that makes a fish sandwich is most likely using cod.

Long John Silvers can hook you up for relatively cheap.

Kinda want to try these things but I have no idea how to eat clams and lobsters and shit so I never do it and just order pizza instead.

>> No.14411018

>>14411003
Clams are easy. Use your fork to lift the meat out of the shell. Insert the fork into your mouth. Chew.

Lobster simply requires you to peel off the shell. If you've got a hammer, you can just gently bang on it until it cracks open.
