Who's behind the Salt and Pepper industry?

Why is this such a commonly used go to spice combo? What are they not telling us?

Salt is critical to flavor perception, it's part of our biology. Pepper just tastes good to most people, and is part of many cultures' traditional cuisine.

It comes from French cooking, where salt, pepper and herbs are considered valid ingredients for cooking meat because they supposedly augment and compliment the meat without masking or overpowering its native flavor.

They are on tables because people have different individual preferences on salt and pepper.

try eating literally any red meat without either

Much of that cheap salt is loaded with microplastics. Mainly the 'sea salats'

Himalayan rock salt for me please.

And organic whole peppercorns.
