For five years i lived in Paris. Working for an international school, I lived in a nice posh quarter (no nignogs) and I regularly went to delicious restaurants (my bills were subsidised by my company). Visiting markets and small villages around Paris, I developed a taste for good wine, tasty charcuterie and wonderful french regional cuisine. I took the train to Lyon on the odd weekend with my gf and we went to the tiny bistros in the 1st arrondissement and dined on succulent tete de veau, puy lentil stew and other regional delicacies. In the summer we would take the TGV south to her hometown near Cannes where we drank bottle after bottle of provincial rose and gorged ourselves the enormous Bouillabaisse that you can have at Chez Marinette in Marseille. After five years I changed my job and came back to London. Five years of palette refining and taste perfecting. Five years of sipping on delicate wines and sniffing aromatic, earthy, sweet cheeses. I got off the train and headed to the appartment my gf had been renting for the past five months. I was almost there when I passed a greggs. My head turned. An intoxicating aroma was eminating from the door. It was a mixture of swilling fat, grease and freshly heated (or re-heated?) baked goods. Instantly, before my brain could even process or resist, my salivary glands went into action. Gushing into my mouth, saliva poured. A bead of sweat cascaded down my forehead before dripping on to my shirt. I knew what I had to do. Eyeing the prize, I ordered what I knew my body yearned for. Every digestive organ was pointing the way. Behind the plexi-glass screen they lay gleaming. Hastily, I ordered two. Fumbling with my card I asked the cashier if I could pay "without contact". It was a strange turn of phrase. In my hunger-induced delirium I had momentarily forgotten the phrase "contactless" and instead translated into English what was said in France. Never mind, she understood.

I've always wondered why the hell Britain didn't develop an amazing cuisine. World's biggest empire with land in every possible corner of the world with almost any possible culinary influence. Vast tracts of lands conductive to trade of exotic ingredients and foodstuffs both foreign and with incredible potential for new varieties of dishes. Country with wealth still amongst the highest in the world. Nation bound by ocean and with multiple rivers and the worlds greatest functional canal system, with potential to be rich and overabundant with fish and seafood in general. Yet...
>FISH AND CHIPS
>Sunday roast
>Curry
>doner pizza
>worst sausages in world
>has at least scones and crumpets, most based food from UK
what in the fuck went wrong
I've traveled a lot and I've been to tiny shitholes with no historical or cultural significance in the grandest scheme of things but most of them still have more distinctive and greatest cuisine than that of UK.
It's no wonder why so throughout history have had a sort of contempt for this nation of clerks.

The difference between those and between continental cheeses is laughable. Cheddar and Leicester Lol. No goat cheeses, no soft cheeses, only one blue cheese which is still inferior to even Danish blues, no fresh, ricotta or cottage cheese types distinct to UK, no hard cheeses, no cheeses specifically for melting, no cheeses to pair with platter of cured of smoked meats, literally just cheddar which in itself is pretty mediocre and two types that are extremely similar. Yeah they're not the same, but the diversity of flavours isn't anything close to it. I tried like 15 different and distinct cheeses in Piemonte and was blown out by how much variety they had. And it was only a few of the types and mostly local ones.
Ah right no one's judgement matters. The reasoning of the Brittard.
>jealous
it's literally the running joke when I meet any foreigners who's gone to uk to visit or live:
>What do you think of the food?
Usually its either a confused pained look or big LOL
Don't pretend anyone is jealous
even your celebrity chefs don't know what they're doing
Just ocersalt and over pepper everything and put GALLONS of olive oil in any dish, that is their way of cooking when any sane person from countries natively using olive oil doesn't use it as lot and even sparingly
its genuinely hilarious how obvious it is your cuisine is garbage and you're just a coping faggot who has to larp that Italians aren't European now just to cope

Spoons is great, it's like £6.50 for a burger and a pint (which would be £2.50-£3.50 alone). And you order with the app and it only takes about ten minutes for your food usually.
