Is it just me or are there quite a few pizza parlors, especially big chains, which don't put any sauce on your pizza unless you ask for extra sauce? Pizza Hut and Domino's in particular seem to have no sauce, or close to no sauce, unless you specifically ask for extra sauce.

Pepperoni is nice. It's the default, followed by cheese. A pepperoni pizza being decent is a standard expectation of any pizza joint. When a new pizza place opens up I always order their standard pepperoni and if it's not good then I don't trust them to get anything else right, and I don't order them again.

Outside of that I like a BBQ base, topped with beef and/or sausage and cheese. Sometimes a mayo swirl if I want a some tang, or a sriracha swirl. I'm not a complicated guy with pizza.
