Some people like to forget that meat is literally the body of an animal

I used to live next door to this one family, they were nice but almost like walking caricatures of suburban stereotypes, and I can’t help but feel like they were a little sheltered.

One day my family was having company, and we were roasting a whole pig on a spit. As my dad and I are bringing the pig into the backyard, speared on the spit and all, the neighbours are outside. The neighbour dad sees and he’s actually pretty impressed by the setup, but the mom? She shrieked like a banshee and starting shooing their kids inside, screaming “Oh my God! Don’t let the kids see that!”. It’s literally just raw meat, the fuck is there to be scared about?

That was my cousin I invited. His wife was being a pain in the ass because she didn’t wanna wait for food, so he keeps telling me to hurry it up because she didn’t have it in her to talk to me directly. Had to explain to him that if it’s cooked too quickly and on too hot of a temperature, the ribs would be like rubber and that he’d just have to wait.
