OK now I can speak freely. You don't have to add salt if you don't want. NPCs are largely addicted to salt and parrot the same "salt on everything" memes, never trying unsalted food for any length of time.

It depends for me. If im going to eat a sausage and egg sandwich with fake cheese, the sausage and fake cheese seasons it perfectly fine. Same applies to bacon. But if I'm just eating eggs I apply salt.

Its all about knowing what ingredients already have salt in them, and being wise enough to leave enough well alone or to apply more. You can always add salt, but potatoes or not you cannot take away salt.
