if it's grass fed, then there's only a small amount of poly-unsaturated fat.

It's healthy and has a high smoke point. Go to a local butcher and ask for beef trimmings. Specify you want the really fatty parts. You'll either get it for free or for like a dollar or two a pound. Then slice it thin, put it in a pot in an oven at 240°F for like six hours. Strain it and wa la. You can also use the meat from the trimmings that was cooked in the fat to make some nice cooking broth. Very cost efficient and it makes your house smell delicious

Proper tallow is made from suet (fat around the kidneys). Trimmings will make low quality tallow with thin consistency.

>> No.14294430

I didn't know it was so good for you but generally animal fat is, I onlly use that to cook and bake and it is great, the one I buy has some scent to it but after cooking it goes away, plus is cheaper

Y'all should listen to Malcolm Gladwells podcast episode where he talked about how the french fries at McDonalds used to be much better in the past, when it was cooked in beef tallow, and how they were forced to stop using it because of a media campaign against heart disease or some shit. Made me really want to try it.

Yeah, trimmings make dripping rather than tallow. Dripping has a far more pronounced flaver and as such is better.

Grass-fed tallow has a bunch of micronutrients in it. Also great for seasoning your cast iron with.

Saturated fat is healthy because it does not turn into trans fat when heated like unsaturated fats. Even obese fucks like you worried about calorie counting can benefit because it causes more satiety than carbs leading to lower calorie intake.

It's fat, what is there to say about it. I prefer duck fat for cooling. High smoke point, tastes good, easily available.
IIRC beef tallow is the frying solution for true Belgian fries.

Rendered fats taste great and they are better for the human body than Vegetable Oils.

I only cook with Butter, Rendered Lard or Olive Oil.

I like to save all my bacon fat and use that all the time to oil my pans. Usually I use it to cook breakfast food like Potato, Eggs or Sausage.

You know you have to oil the pan so stuff dont stick and the bacon fat gives your food a nice flavor.
