I'm in the market for a new blender. My old one was a cheapo Black and Decker, $50, but started having trouble with frozen fruit after a year or 2. I'm looking for something in the $100-150 range. I mostly just use it for smoothies. I've seen a number of poor reviews for Ninja's plastic jars but professional blenders seem to be plastic and hold up fine so I don't know what to think of that. What blender do you use?

I have a vitamix knock off called home geek that it working pretty well so far. It was dirt cheap. I was going to get the vitamix but figured I'd get this one to see if I use it enough.

my powerful vitamix can mix concrete

I use a ninja just for smoothies and it's been great, way better than the cheap osterizer shit I used to have. It still doesn't compare to a vitamix but I don't want to spend that much on a blender I just use for smoothies.

Buy a used vitamix or stick with your shitty $50 jobs. You won’t get much better quality for $100-150 new

does it have layered blades like this? Is it not flimsy? For some reason it just gives me the impression they'd snap blending anything frozen

>>14273865
I have the non-layered version, it chews through ice and frozen fruit with no problems.

Ninjas are cheap garbage and are well known to break constantly and just fall apart.

This is good advice.

I just picked this up for $75 plus shipping. I need a new gasket for the action lid or whatever which is like $7. I took the pitcher apart after soaking it in vinegar and running it a few times and then added some baking soda and ran it a few more times in forward and reverse. Cleaned everything up. It's a fucking beast. I could use a replacement handle for the broken one but I may just order a pair of steel aftermarket replacements.

Fuck new plastic shit.

If you have to settle get a top tier Oster. Mine has lasted 20 years and works great, and you can use normal standard width Mason jars on the base. The blade section will screw right on.

My old reliable Oster with a Mason jar and the optional milkshake blade making a milkshake.

You can find these and the older vintage ones with glass pitchers all day long at thrift stores for $5-$20. They have a rugged drive coupling and are pretty much backwards compatible. They break down very easily for cleaning too so you don't have an old stinking pitcher.

Using my Oster to puree piping hot chilies that have been steeped for making enchilada sauce.

The wife has a Ninja but it barely gets used. I used it once for making a dough ball for Pretzels. I think she bought it for margaritas. It seems alright but I wouldn't abuse it like I do my old workhorse Oster.

I don't know. I bought a last gen Vitamix at Costco like 7 years ago. Ninjas are pretty much the only other thing I've used recently because multiple people I know own them, but they're basically "as seen on TV" garbage.

Dude that milkshake looks OD, besides from milk and nesquick what else do you put in it?

Hershey Syrup and Hershey Special Dark Syrup. I'm currently out of malt. I do freeze leftover coffee in an ice tray if I feel like having a Baskin Robbins style Cappuccino Blast.
