Every single person I've met who said they had one of those ended up being really offended by my jokes.

My mother would get pretty mad if I ate snacks she had bought without permission. I can kind of see it from both sides, I suppose.
On one hand I was a kid who was home alone for a couple ours after school and wanted snacks.
On the other hand, she had to work for the money and then spend time doing the shopping and I guess coming home late from work and finding out those cookies you wanted with a cup of tea while you watched a movie had been consumed by a kid who played video games all afternoon was pretty disappointing.
Parents should understand that kinds of a certain age will eat loads of food all the time, but I can absolutely understand that it's infuriating to not be able to have something you bought in your own house in peace.
