It’s the best dining experience since poorfags cant afford them. While I enjoy a tasty burger and sprinkle my top tier fries with malt vinegar, they resort to shit slop form McDick’s or In n Out.

They're decent, but it's still fast food. No fast food place has a burger that's remarkable in any way. They're only remarkable because you compare them to other fast food places.

>Is this truly the best burgers out of all fast food chains?
Technically, food that is cooked to order is not "fast food" but could be fast casual.

There is no best burger, because people have preferences for thin, thick, grilled vs griddled, smashed versus not smashed, bun type and so forth.

What is awesome about Five Guys? I followed them from their beginnings when I lived in D.C. during the heart of the Tech Boom. The beginnings of social media, yelp and IRC, and the buzz among techies and local foodies, people with disposable income and lunch time meetups...
Five guys is generous in not charging by the topping. Get what you want and stack it high.
They had a few beverages not on tap elsewhere.
They had a blackboard each day showing where the potatoes were grown, very farm to table sensibilities, some transparency like the dirt matters that much, but so it was!
Overstuffing your fries to fill up the whole brown bag was generous, as well as not being a fish n chips shop but providing malt vinegar for the fries.
Making hot sauce addicts happy with spicy cajun seasoned salt and jalapenos for burgers.
There was a line out the door and down the block at all locations, due to the skin-on fries. The fries were great. While you were in line, you scooped out those peanuts to enjoy so you weren't pissed off and you filled out blank 3x5 cards to post on a community board. They were building brand loyalty.
They were also as clean as a latino ice cream shop. Spotless white tiles, bleach wiped tables, and germaphobes were in heaven. In a city of diverse ethnicities, cleanliness matters to the educated masses.

In N Out is mediocre Christcuck food. I live in California and "people" here shill it heavily. It's not that great and the fact that they have shit for condiments is annoying. Just go to a local place ffs. If not, Wendy's has the best widely available fast-food burger.

Five Guys, In-n-out, and Shake Shack are the 3 best and all have different benefits (haven't been near a Culver's, I trust it's good too though).
Five Guys is the best for taste. The burger and fries are just so delicious. However, it's too expensive and you don't feel good afterwards. It's also not perfectly consistent.
Shake Shack is the best for quality. The food is very consistently good and doesn't make you feel shitty after eating it, it's very satisfying. The ingredients are great and the fries are usually perfectly made even if they're not as interesting as Five Guys fries. It's also quite pricey. But what Shake Shack produces in quality comes with a little bit of soullessness.
In-N-Out is very clearly the best for price. I mean it's like half the price of the other two. It's also got really good burger quality, the ingredients are great and the burgers are very consistent. However, the fry quality is not so wonderful. This is made up for by animal fries. Something I appreciate about In-n-out is the lack of options. While Shake Shack and Five Guys have so many options, they don't really add much besides bloat and In-n-out is really really good at being what it is. My only issue with In-n-out is that the burgers just don't taste quite as good as the other two. The tastes all kind of mesh together and the patties leave a bit to be desired. They're like very high quality McDonald's patties as opposed to hitting the restaurant quality that Shake Shack and Five Guys seem to hit. But regardless, if I'm choosing between all 3 (which I never am since I'm only near In-n-outs when I'm on the west coast and only the other two on the east coast) then I'll probably choose In-n-out just for the price.

Smashburger and Habit burger are better to me. Five Guys has great fries but I've always found their burgers pretty bland. Unlimited toppings are nice but that doesn't make up for the meat itself lacking flavor.

>I don't think I truly make a good burger.
>give me your recipes.
Just remember browned=flavor. At home you can pretty easily get a nice sear with the smashed burger technique. Section and ball up your ground meat into some equal portions of your desired size (size the width and thickness it to your bun). Drop onto hot, seasoned or greased skillet (cast iron is nice), use your spatula and your fist on the other side to smash it and force some great grill contact on side one.
Sear it on the first side nicely before you consider or even start flipping it and steaming in the juices. It's like mushrooms in that need some browning, so just leave it alone! Salt, pepper, nothing much else required but trial and error on your part after that. When you flip it, I wouldn't press it again, just finish the browning.
Tweak it how you wish with butterburger style, thick, thin, worchestershire, garlic powder/seasoned salt, steak seasoning, black n blue cheese, whatever, anything but mix-ins and god forbid eggs, all that is meatloaf in the US. Pattymelts are nice, so remember you can get tons of flavor by grilling some onions in the pan with your cooking burgers.
