“Now and then”? Sure, that won’t hurt you but how many people can actually do that, considering the addictive nature of nicotine? For most people, once you start you've got a monkey on your back and quitting is a bitch.

Now years back, one of my buddies would smoke a whole pack at a party but then somehow go weeks without a single cigarette afterwards and I dunno how the hell he could do that? I’ve been smoking 1-1.5 packs a day since I was 16 (I’m now 52).

The problem is almost everyone who has a cigarette or two ends up smoking a lot more once it becomes a comfy habit. That's why all the anti-smoking fags always focus so much on addiction as a problem. If they weren't so enjoyable and addictive and you only had a cigarette or two every few days it's unlikely you'd get serious medical problems from them. But they ARE that enjoyable and I would bet a lot of money on you going from what you're talking about to ending up smoking closer to a pack a day in the not so distant future.

The "sex or not" part coupled with "not even kidding" makes it sound blatantly like someone's urging your to have sex with children.
If you want to say instead that sleeping next to your own child is natural and good for bonding then you shouldn't say anything about sex at all. Nicotine itself isn't particularly addictive, it's the MAOIs in the alkaloids if tobacco that make it more addictive ; in other words, it inhibits the reuptake of dopamine (and every other monoamine, like serotonin and norepinephrine ie adrenaline).

Meth, cocaine, amphetamines, gambling, sex all do the same thing (for dopamine). As far as I know every addictive substance manipulates dopamine in some way. Nicotine affects nicotinic neuromuscular junctions, which (as far as I know) aren't involved in any addictive properties. Sure, it has some CNS activity but the tobacco alkaloids are what make cigarettes more addictive than vaping.
My vape battery died last week and it hasn't bothered me one bit. I dont think I'll even replace it. Whereas if I ran out of cigs I'd be thinking of getting another pack often.

Japanese smoke more than anyone and have the least amount of lung cancer.
And smokers in the West were picked as a scapegoat to distract attention away from the health problems caused by atmosphere detonations like the Trinity test which dispersed radioactive particles everywhere that definitely do cause cancer and don't disappear any time soon. Smoking is an extremely popular habit people choose to take up as a personal decision so it's convenient if you can pursue and identify evidence to blame health problems on that.
A bunch of animal experiments were done long ago to try to prove tobacco in itself causes cancer e.g. pic related where they forced beagles to smoke to try to induce cancer.
It didn't work, even when they got so desperate that they that they cut open the dogs' throats and administered massive amounts of tobacco smoke to them directly through a tracheostomy.
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0022480468900115
>70% want to quit
Yeah, because you aren't allowed to smoke anywhere anymore for one reason. Almost all workplaces got rid of smoke breaks and make smokers go walk across the street during lunch break to smoke a cigarette (for the many who work hourly at least; if you're salaried obviously you can just go take a break any time you feel like it since you're not on the clock). And the many living in apartments have been banned from smoking in their own homes. Plus they're constantly told smoking is the worst thing you can do to yourself and you're a terrible person if you do it. And on top of all that the price has been jacked up to absurdly high amounts through sin taxes.
Personally I stopped smoking years ago to avoid all the artificial hassle others impose on you for it and to save a lot more money, but in a world without all the government meddling and propaganda smoking would be fine.

How is it coping if I don't even smoke anymore? It's just the truth. Read up on it. Why do you think they couldn't ever produce cancer in animals using cigarettes, even when they tore out dogs' throats and forced the smoke directly into them at absurdly high doses for extremely long periods of time?
Nuclear radiation from the later internationally banned hundreds of atmospheric detonation tests caused an a massive uptick in cancer cases. When the numbers started getting too high to ignore they launched a nonstop campaign of extensive research into tobacco as a cancer causing agent since basically the entire adult population on the planet smoked and it allowed for a narrative where people gave themselves cancer through bad personal habits instead of the reality where the state was reckless with hazardous nuclear material and doomed their own people to some of the worst slow deaths imaginable.
For a time during WWII smoking rates fell to zero simply because tobacco become unavailable. During that same time frame the lung cancer rate neither fell nor stayed the same but instead *increased*. Anti-smoking campaigners try to have it both ways and claim a 30 year incubation period and corresponding lag to explain the WWII lack of smoking and lack of corresponding health problem decreases while also claiming modern efforts to eliminate smoking deserve credit for drops in corresponding health problems that happened immediately after this observed modern smoking decrease trend. If it were 30 years consistently then the decrease in modern health problems associated with smoking would be based on the smoking rates of people during the 70s which is obviously not going to support the propaganda goals.
And look at the data on smoking among women and lung cancer cases (pic related).
I'm not the conspiracy theorist type but you got rused. State planners decide where to put research pressure to force spurious correlations when they need to deflect attention.

Regularly using a lot of it will mess up your gums, the salt/nicotine/pH of it causes a little irritation. But I think it goes back to normal for the most part if you stop using it for a while.

It's probably a good idea to take a break from anything like that, smoking/drinking/etc. Keeps your tolerance low which can make it more enjoyable when you do have it, and it helps keep anything from having too much of a negative effect.

Your post is speculative bullshit. To date there is not one successful experimental study where tobacco was able to induce carcinogensis in any healthy animal at rates statistically and practically significant relative to control. See for yourself.
