Why are so many people afraid of high abv beers?

A high abv beer done right is absolutely fantastic, and I'm not taking about the super skol trash, but genuinely delicious high abv porters, stouts, trippels, wheat beers etc.

Are people really too afraid to try delicious beer?

most people don't care much about beer other than it being an easy and socially accepted way of getting fucked up.
i have never tasted a beer that wasn't at least ok but i have also never tasted any beer that was much more than that. a mediocre beverage for mediocre people and mediocrities don't go for "innovations" because being an early-adopter of trends that are not yet a success is for people who don't have sex.

is leffe blonde a good beer? i'm considering buying some but i can only get it in 750ml bottles and don't know if i want that much if it's not good. i usually drink pale italian/french/spanish lagers but am considering graduating into german/belgian wheat beers. any recommendations that aren't meme-tier american sugar milkshake ipa abominations are welcome.

true, but most breweries don't know how to do them right.
