Your mom is unironically based. Cool Whip is just trash made from corn syrup and vegetable oil. It has skim milk as the second-lowest ingredient by volume and LESS THAN 2% of LIGHT cream and some other milk solids. By comparison, whipped cream is literally just heavy cream whipped into a stable topping with a whisk.
