hey /ck/ whats a good way to peal these things? whenever i try, the shell breaks into a ton of small pieces, and i end up ripping apart the egg just trying to remove the shells.

Cook them right first and stop buying crap eggs. The top and the bottom will have a pocket that you need to smash lightly to make it easier. Make sure to purge them in cold water after boiling them so they don't overcook.

under a running tap or use older eggs

Vinegar supposedly, I never bother.

Don't even need it. Most people make shit complicated because they think it makes them smarter.

Don't keep them in the fridge.
10min in boiling water then immediately in cold water (replace water if it heats up)
Crack the top, bottom then roll them on the side while pushing them slightly down.

Vinegar is supposed to stop the egg shells cracking when boiling them.

let them cool completely, like fridge cold, before peeling, then roll on the oblong side a few times to break up the shell before pulling it off

crack them and then peel them in water. You just need to get through the membrane and the water will do the rest.
You can do it under a running tap or just in a bowl. In a bowl wastes less water though.

just scoop them with a spoon holy shit

It mostly depends on how you cook them. If you start the eggs in cold water and bring them up to a boil, it makes the shell stick more.

Boil the water first, then drop the eggs in, and peel them under running water. Peels perfectly almost every time this way.

>> No.14207079

just cool them in cold tapwater right after you take them off boiling
shell peels right off

Make an extremely small hole in the larger end of the egg. A thumb tack is appropriate. Be gentle lowering them into the water afterwards.

i put them into ice cold water after cooking them, seems to work okay

Get yourself a fine tip metal punch at a hardware store. Poke a hole in the bottom of the shell, just a light tap with the punch to barely penetrate the shell, then apply gentle pressure while spinning the punch to widen out the hole a little. The idea is to poke through the shell but not the membrane. It allows water to enter between the shell and membrane. Egg peels off super easy. Here is the punch I have kept in my cutlery drawer for almost 10 years. It’s too fine tipped for me to use at work anyway. Need a fat punch at work.

do this
peel off enough to fit a spoon between the shell and the egg and you should be able to scoop the egg out. you'll scrape off some of the egg but that's okay

Step 1: Cook
Step 2: Leave in cold water for 10 minutes
Step 3: Light crack on both ends
Step 4: Try to peel with the thumb joint for large and equal force, via large surface area

But you won't develop the needed hand/finger movement unless you do batches of 10-20 of them.
If peel in a work environment, you are looking at peeling at the least 50-200 a day, which is why most shops buy brine soaked peeled eggs instead.
