He was doing some journalism, really, right? He was there out of curiosity a bit because he was a creature of the internet meme like the rest of us, but also because a proverbial zillion locations do exist, and so a big part of local culture, so you have to cover it to do your journalistic visit correctly. And it is odd as heck with those fast food restuarant inspirations merged together (McDs, KFC, Nathans meets italian food), and those cosplay employee dancing mascots, pasta and rice together on the same platter with hot dog meat, gravy on a disc of bento formed white rice, a kind of only-in-the-Phillipines wackiness that must be third world?
Well, Canada is not third world, and no one laughs at Canada putting jarred gravy on fries without the beef that made the gravy in the first place. If that isn't a crappy side that became mainstream, then you couldn't understand some of the awful things they do in Hawaii either, like the triple starch "plate lunch" with gravy and hamburger coated rice either, except well, there is poverty and the ever desire not to have hunger pains and feel filled up. To Canada, then, I'll ask: Where's the BEEF?™
