Burger King opened in 2002 here in Mexico. It was the second time they opened here, since back in the 80s they tried and failed.

My dad bought me a "Deluxe" burger from the newly opened restaurant. It had a special kind of bread and it was absolutely delicious. They discontinued it shortly and I started buying BK's other options for years, each one more disappointing than the last. Bacon Xtreme, guacamole madness, shit like that, and they always fucking sucked.

When I remembered BK existed I tried their chicken burgers, their nuggets, their bbq bacon burgers, even back in a job I had a guy and I went three weeks to the BK because of some coupons we had, and I always bought a different thing. Except for one burger I never tried. The WHOPPER.

In all of my failed attempts to connect with BK, I never ever tried the Whopper. Nobody I knew liked BK and nobody ever said good things about it, so what was the point.

Then it's 2019, I'm newly married and for some reason out of boredom and in the middle of a diet I decide my cheat meal should be a Whopper. Crazy cravings from a starving ex fat man, the Whopper seemed huge in my hands after months of not having a burger, and oh boy, it was absolutely delicious

17 years of my life struggling with BK, always thinking less of them because of their inferior options.

But now I'm in love with the Whopper.

Yea I like whoppers a lot too despite knowing that they are garbage.

I think a lot of it is nostalgia.

Thanks

That was kind of the point I was trying to make. It's not nostalgia since I didn't taste them before. And I'm surprised I like them despite everyone having this image of BK being absolute shit. Perhaps the Whopper is their only good product.

The Whopper always has been a singularly exceptional sandwich, as a flagship burger it's ten times a Big Mac. They have a good variety of condiments and salad on the burger, I think the patty is particularly flavorful and their pickles are essential to the flavor profile to me. Cheese optional.

But a LOT of BK's other options are trash, their fries and nuggets in particular are wet tissue paper up against McDick's, even the coke tastes worse, all this in my region of America, and around here I tend to see BK's really shoddily-run, very inconsistent across locations. You can still find a ratchet Wendy's or McD's or any other high-volume high-population-density-clientele competitor, but the BK's I see are probably the most likely to Just Be Outta Shit. Not usually so much the employee's fault as what looks like poor upper-managerial work and leaky supply pipelines.

Nobody does it cheaper, though. God Bless.

Eh, they can have some hits. At least when they're done right, I actually think their spicy crispy chicken sandwich is right up there, emphasis more "crispy" than "chicken" but tasty and good spice. Not too hot on their breakfast though. But a whopper jr? like I said, it's a good flavor profile. I didn't have the guts to try their "Whopper Dog" but a sausage on a bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and mayo/ketchup/mustard to taste? well it doesn't sound like a bad lineup. reminiscent of a chicagodog, would you get poppyseed or sesameseed for the bun, if you made one yourself?

I always get one from time to time thinking it's going to be good. And then I unwrap it and become disappointed.

I've only been disappointed by the Whopper Jr. Meat tasted funky. It seems it's general knowledge not to order those because they're not that popular.

Whataburger is my favorite fast food burger but they left Mexico a long time ago. But it's my first stop when traveling to Texas.

Funnily enough, Carls Jr/Hardee's is the biggest burger joint in my city. Quality has decreased a bit and the prices have increased a lot but it's the first choice for people here for fast food. I like the Quarter Pounder in McDs and the Big Mac, and I don't dislike their other options at all.

I have one good bk and one bad one. The fries are pretty good at the good one. This coupon let's you eat like a king™ on the cheap. It's their best deal by far.
It's the same damn code even now, so you can just give them that. Two different sodas will make you look like a fatass, but no worse then getting a refill or big ass cup. I usually save the other sandwich until I get home or for later.

Actually, for me, every spicy chicken I tried taste burnt, but the regular crispy chicken has been good 85% of the time, horrible 10% of the time, and absolutely godlike 5% of the time.

Everytime I look at a Whopper picture I see they don't have any cheese. Is this normal in America? Burgers without cheese?

Don't get me wrong, you invented it but it seems odd.
