We're almost at that time of year, /ck/. Post what should go on a tomato sandwich.

For me, it's pretty basic:
>toasted and buttered bread
>salt and pepper
>perfectly ripe or slightly overripe tomato (ideally a big beefsteak with one thicc slice covering the bread)
>thin slice of cheese (like sharp old cheddar or shaved parmesan if I want to get fancy)

I actually plucked my first tomato from the garden today and made a tomato sandwich with it(I live in the south, so I've already had a few 90 degree days for them to start to ripen).

I like to toast a softer bread, smear of mayo, tomato, salt, pepper. Usually open faced. Another favorite is to do two pieces buttered in a pan, pimento cheese (a good brand or homemade not the trash labeled pimento cheese 'dip') on one half and just as the pimento starts to soften I hit it with a few dashes of hot sauce, the fresh tomatoes, and lots of cracked black pepper. Assemble and remove from heat before the tomatoes get warmed too much.

because the sharp saltiness of cheddar or parm complements the acidity of the tomato. mozzarella isn't that salty

Color me intrigued by this strawberry avocado thing. Care to elaborate more? Just raw everything or are you roasting the strawberries to get a jam type thing?

It's what it sounds like, I'm not a very good or complex cook I just try whatever shit comes to my head

I thinly slice a firmer avocado and strawberries, assemble it and toast the whole assembly, and top with brown sugar. Honestly, I think the biggest key to it tasting good is to use great strawberries, which is why I like to make it around now when they're in season(us). Roasting the strawberries sounds interesting, I'll try it soon!

I see, I almost never think of avocado as being for sweet things, but it is pretty neutral. I have it in my head to try doing it with the roasted strawberries and to bring in some sort of mild cheese for a little salty.

If only good, then melted cheese, bacon, and lettuce.

slice of provolone
good amount of mayo on both pieces of bread
sea salt, light drizzle of olive oil, black pepper and cayenne pepper

Try salt + pepper + a slight bit herbs de Provence and some olive oil. Let it sit about 15 minutes before you put it on sandwich. Sandwich should be mayo only. Not a fan of this cheese stuff.

the tomato goes in the soup
you then eat the grilled cheese with the soup
grilled cheese should have a thin coat of mayo on the outside before pan frying it

Why does it go so well with black pepper? I hate those tards that put pepper on everything they put salt on, but goddam its so good with tomato.

My girlfriend ate the hell out of this one I made on Sunday.

Lightly toasted sesame seed sourdough
Miracle-whip
Sliced crunchy grape tomatoes
Pink sea salt and black pepper

Basic snack:
>toast the bread
>heavy spread of mayonaise (not Miracle Whip, use the proper egg shit)
>tomatoes thickly sliced to your liking
>bit of pepper

Fancy fuck:
>butter and pan fry one side of each slice grilled-cheese like. Assemble with fried parts facing inside. Stops the watery stuff from soaking your bread.
>old white cheddar, thinly sliced (or cheddar slices, the "American" slices aren't great in this)
>tomatoes sliced about 5mm thick, cut and positioned to get a proper amount each bite
>small amount of fresh cilantro, chopped to flakes and spread as equally as you can
>bit of pepper
>fry again briefly like a grilled cheese, hopefully the cheese gets near melting without warming the tomato too much. Helps if you had cheese on both sides of the tomato.
>the tomatoes and melted cheese generally give it enough moisture, but if you want more add the pepper to mayo and spread it lightly on both slices of bread you fat bastard

>> No.14160634

>tomato still warm from the mid-morning sun
>untoasted white bread
