You need something on the sweeter side to offset the heaviness of a truly juicy burger. You don't enjoy this because you've clearly never had a truly juicy burger in your life.

Unless it's some kind of specialty burger, lettuce, tomato, and pickles are mandatory.

Every whopper in existence has tomato in it. Go on. Tell me again how it "doesn't belong" in a burger.

i personally am not a fan of tomatoes, especially on burgers
to much liquid, makes everything slide around. doesnt contribute that much to taste
but most people do have tomatoes OP, you know this, its normal

Tomato is tolerable, but pickle is the fucking worst.

>> No.14135591

The tomato in the sourdough jack was a key part in what made it taste good. The burger sucks now though.

Fun fact, they somewhat recently discovered a gene that's present in like 60% of store bought tomatoes that is responsible for them tasting like nothing. Not even making this up, there's a real reason homegrown tomates taste way better

Pic related is the only proper and optimized way to build a burger, making a burger with the ingredients in any different order is not ideal

I'm different anon, but agree pickle is maybe worst ingredient on burger. Either pickle or raw onion. Pickle just kind of subtracts from the flavor profile in my opinion; it's almost overpowering. I particularly love those savory, umami type flavors in burgers, and the sourness of pickles takes away. And the slippery, crunchy texture is kinda distracting from the other more favorable textures, like the patty itself, when chewing. You run into a similar problem with raw onion. And both tend to slip out of the patty.

Either is tolerable in a "everything except the kitchen sink" type burger though.
