I am seriously sad that I'll never eat at this restaurant ever again. I loved everything about it

Same. Haven't been able to go in three years bc I moved and now I never will. Used to go every other week with the boys. Never seen a man put away so much spinach in one sitting before Soupie

I worked there for 4 years AMA

Same. Haven't been since like 2010, since I moved, but it was pretty fucking good back in the day.
Heard they stopped making soup in house at some point, and switched to the panera style pre-packaged shit at some point though, instead of making them in house, and using some of the leftover / unused salad ingredients though. Might have been a sign shit was going down-hill.

Yo you got any recipes.

Nah, most of the stuff was pretty general recipes. Most of the food was made by Central Kitchen. I worked at a store that had Central Kitchen running out of it to distribute food to surrounding stores. All of the good recipes like bakery and soup were in binders locked in the CK office

Figured as much. They treat you good there?

Definitely better over the years. The company was struggling for a while (bankruptcy, multiple CEOs, being bought by a company that had never run a restaurant) so you really had to fight to get decent pay. The atmosphere was great. I'm sure people usually say this but we really were a big family. Had a decently high turnover rate but by the end we were all really close, definitely gonna miss everyone.

What was made on-site?
Was there always central kitchens, or was it brought in at some point to cut costs or something?

For as long as I worked there, there was CK, I assumed that was always the case. All the soups were made there, we had multiple giant kettles and a bagging station in the back just for the soups. Everything in the bakery was also made on site. Focaccia/pizza, muffins, hot deserts. All the salad ingredients (excluding canned olives and beets) and fruit bar things were chopped and portioned every morning for the salad staff to toss during the day

>> No.14109121

the one thing at souplantation that was actually unusually good was the caesar salad
they made the dressing from scratch with anchovies and tossed it in a big wooden bowl rubbed with garlic cloves
nice stuff

salad bars are gross

I will always fondly remember going to souplantation high as fuck and eating a big plate of raw grated butternut squash with roasted garlic dressing or wolfing down bowl after bowl of cubed tofu and scallions with miso broth poured over it
thanks for the mammaries

It was alright. I got the idea to put rotini pasta on salads from them. Now I just make all my own at home. But I still don't feel safe eating store bought lettuce yet. So far just been going for the pre-bagged spinach.

No joke, I put my own spunk in one of the salad dressings. I wonder how many old ladies I've impregnated as a result.
