does anyone have one of these? or whatever other brand exists
I haven't yet tried one so reticent to buy, but since my tap water is perfectly fine, I'd like to be able to skip the hassle of buying sparkling water, especially since I don't have a car to carry larger amounts at a time

otoh I doubt I'll _actually_ get one because at 60e for the basic version that's ~60 bottles from the store, even if I get the nicer ones
if I get the cheaper ones it's even less and then heck I can probably get money back from returning the plastic bottles
but I digress

I'm just curious if anyone has such a thing and what their experience is

Bump for interest
This is my problem too

I bought a month ago, I use it almost every day, multiple times sometimes and I still haven't had to replace the canister. I highly recommend it if you like soda water.

>> No.14094778

i know a guy who charges them for ~$10
look on whatever online marketplace you use and you'll probably find something similar

my dad bought it for me it's dope

yeah a mate of mine has one, she drinks about two letres a day of soda water but felt bad about the bottles, we don't have the reusable bottles like some eurofags do. To me it tasted like normal sodawater, but she likes it more cause you can make it super bubbly like the cheap stuff or less bubbly like the expensive stuff depending on how you like it.

We had one of these over 25 years ago.

Nothing but good memories from them. I think we mainly used them to carbonate cordial.

My science teacher in 8th grade brought one of these in for fun and i was surprised how it actually is able to work. I suppose its worth it, the bottles should be reusable and you can fine-tune your club sodas.
Fuck it. I might actually get one myself.

yay anons replied
ok so bottom line: if you like soda water and it makes sense financially it works nicely and the product is good
I'll probably first keep an eye out on the second-hand market first

another aspect in my case is that I'm at a fair number of kitchen appliances already; I have an entire coffee setup, a rice cooker and a sandwich maker that I take out when needed, a mixer, an electric kettle...should figure out where this'd fit if at all

anyway, points taken
thanks anons!

Got one to make sparkling water, had it a few years, use around 2 carbon cylinders a year at around 8€ ($8)a piece.

I love mine too, I use it to carbonate my wine. I also use it to carbonate my milk.

My girlfriend drinks only this water, milk and beer. I dont like carbonated water but it's much better then hauling sparkling water from the supermarket.

ok I'll come clean I would mostly get it for her because she's a bit of a child and doesn't like plain water and that's how I got this idea too
seems the only downside is a few extra euros but then I don't have to buy water, or recycle plastic, or transport the bottles

I got one for a deal right after christmas. It's pretty good, I've made my own ginger ale syrup with real sliced ginger and it's pretty nice. The cola flavours are not the greatest but if you like soda water it's pretty fun to have

>> No.14096817

Get it. It's worth it if you drink carbon water daily. Plus they make farting noises.

I suck down a lot of club soda ever since I quit drinking. Do you think these are worth it in the long run? I'm not particular about taste so even just bog standard soda water for me is good enough.

This is what I wanted to know. Soda is so cheap. If you have to buy syrup to make your own soda, then you likely aren't saving money. Are there any links on making your own syrup?

I had one. I used it around 3 times and the piece of shit broke. Not worth the money

It's dirt cheap if you refill the canisters yourself instead of sending them in or running to the market to do it for you.
Easiest thing in the world too, just buy a big CO2 tank somewhere and get one of the countless adapters off of ebay. Will run you like 10cts a refill instead of the 10$ they usually charge.
