Used to work at a Deli in Giant. Boars Head Cajun turkey is the best thing they offer...unless you want to opt for Prosciutto at ~26$ a pound. Also fuck WholeFoods for not carrying Boars Head products.

You're doing yourself a huge disservice with Rueben's by not making the corned beef yourself. Take a flat-cut corned beef, follow the instructions on the package (maybe add a little extra pickling spice) and simmer until cooked through and tender. Trim off any fat cap, then slice across the grain. The texture and taste is a million times better. Most often I make a small-ish pot of corned beef and cabbage with potatoes and carrots and whatever else, but I just make sure the meat is in generous proportion to the veg. Everything that's leftover gets made into a couple of days of Reubens.

That being said...

>>14080633
I don't do deli meat much, but it's hard to beat a lazy man's french dip. Get them to cut a pound or so of roast beef nice and thin, then stop by the spice aisle and get a packet of jus, your preferred cheese (I like havarti or provolone), and some awesome rolls. Take it home, cook the jus as directed, put your roll under the broiler, and then dunk the beef into the jus and stir until it's heated through. Pile that onto the bread with cheese and dip away.
