I am trying desperately to start, but I just can't stand the smoke.

That's not cool. How can I become more nonchalant about smoking, how do start actually liking them and smoking them no big deal, like other people?

I smoked american spirit blacks, they have the most nicotine (and tar), so when I smoked during work and I'm already a naturally tightly wound person, once you get past the hump the buzz hits you like a freight train.

That's a normal reaction. You have to be dumb enough to power through it.
Cigarettes are shit though. It reprograms your brain to accept less stress because it expects the boost from cigarettes. So the more you smoke the less you get out of it.

All it does, as far as I can tell, is make you addicted and be in a constant state of poison.
When you drag from a cig, yeah that feels good, but only because the withdrawal makes you feel shittier and shittier the longer you go without one.
If you had never smoked, you would feel like this or better ALL THE TIME.
Cause Nicotine doesn't actually make you feel good, just less shitty from the withdrawals it caused itself.
Other than that, makes me feel like shit.
Smoked for 10 years, just quit one day and haven't even had the urge to touch a cig in years.
Cause I know that the short term impuls is easily overcome, but not the long term damage and addiction.

If you really want to start then start with pipe tobacco. You're not supposed to draw pipe tobacco in deep, you're supposed to bring it into your mouth and then exhale it.
For me its a purer representation of what is actually pleasurable about smoking - the quiet time to yourself, the act of smoking which fixes the mind, all of the little things like tending to the pipe and such which allow you to think freely because your "monkey brain" is busy focusing on something and therefore isn't throwing a ton of anxieties at you, etc.
I moved on to cigarettes eventually because they were more convenient and because I like the aesthetic, but pipe tobacco is great.

Moral Answer: Please don't fucking start. It's a money sink that's ALSO bad for you.

Actual answer: When you're drinking. Especially hard liquor that already fucks up your throat and/or gets you buzzed. A nice nicotine injection when you're already inebriated feels good as hell to your monkey brain.

Nicotine itself don't fuck you up.
Pure nicotine isn't even addictive, really. There was a study where they used it to treat alzheimers. They gave pretty big doses even to people who never had any exposure to nicotine. Non of them developed any sort of craving for it after the treatment, no addiction. And results of the treatment were pretty good. Can't find the link to the original published article, but here's a small write up i could goole right now: https://www.tampabay.com/news/health/study-finds-nicotine-safe-helps-in-alzheimers-parkinsons/2175396/
There's even no real connection between pure nicotine and cancer, and people who administer smokeless tobacco products have a really minuscule chances of getting it.
There are some risks concerning cardio-vascular system, but even here it only affects people with preexisting conditions, just like caffeine.
The main problem is cigarettes. Not only tobacco smoke itself contains almost 1000 other components other then nicotine + whatever chemical shit that tobacco company puts there. And they put a lot to make you addicted to their brand.
Even people who smoke more or less natural products, like pipes, cigars and good rolling tobacco have less health problems, smoke less and usually don't have that much of addiction.
Nicotine as it is is great for your brain, especially memory, and is ok for your body. I personally knew 2 guys who would enter beast mode after a ciggy and perform at sports much better than without it.

Not to be contrarian but when I smoked daily it was easily my least favorite. Tastes like shit, makes me want to puke, makes my mouth taste like trash, gives me the shits and a stomach ache. Honestly no idea how people can love that first cig so much, unless maybe after a late rise and with a coffee on a lazy Sunday or something. Love a smoke with some booze or after a hard day though.

I used to smoke a whiskey flavoured Champion RYO, it caused headaches though so I switched to Manatou RYO and the headaches stopped. Any organic tobacco was alright, although most Australian tobacco seems to be particularly toxic.
Nowadays I just go to a black-market shop and buy a pack of whatever ching tobacco is good liek Double Happiness, or some Marlboro Gold under the table.
My absolute favorites that you can't get in Australia are Camel Blue's and Djarum Black's. Huge fan.

P.S. Nicotine (all source) is shown to reduce perceived sexual arousal by around 40% for a fivish hours after inhalation. This includes vaping, I can only assume smoking compounds any erection issues from this.
Currently reducing my nicotine intake in my vape for this reason.

I don't know why people say smoking nicotine doesn't do anything except relieve addiction cravings. If you smoke then you can surely remember when you first started and got the "nicotine buzz". You can tell it's having an effect physically and mentally. Nicotine is a great nootropic substance although the effects are obviously very temporary compared to most.

Where did you read that? I don't smoke that often but often when I do, it makes me a bit horny. Jerking off after smoking sucks though because the sensitivity gets reduced for me (I guess because of the vasoconstriction).

Wouldn't it depend on the amount you smoke and the quality of the cigarette? I wouldn't say that people who smoke a lot and have trouble breathing are healthy. And I'm not sure about the chemicals they add to modern cigarettes being good for you either. But just tobacco itself probably isn't that bad for you in moderate use.

I liked snus more than smoking, and some studies have said there's basically no cancer risk from snus. Still have to be careful about overdoing it and your gums receding though.

>> No.14085231

>>14082064
I read that they first started making snus only to supplement cigarettes, so they purposely made it weak. This way people would only use snus if they couldn't smoke but want to go back to cigarettes. I tried the Marlboro one and it gave me a decent buzz, though it's a little too sweet and the mint one has way too much mint flavoring. Most people say the best stuff is imported from Sweden since they've been using it for a long time if you want to try getting your hands on that.

I stopped smoking simply by throwing my cart out my driverside window and speeding up. I still drink on occassion, usually only on holidays or when my friend and I want to make fun of movies together. I have maybe over half a case of beer left in my fridge from my last grocery trip, but that's over a month ago. Still buy wine, but it's mainly for cooking. Liquor is usually bought when I'm feeling very shit indeed, but I actually don't remember the last liquor bottle I bought. I've cut down on my boozing mostly because it never makes me feel good and hangovers are never fun. Plus I don't want a beer belly, and my grandad (who I never even knew) died from cirrhosis. I try to replace these kinds of things with a morning workout, but it doesn't really help. If only I could kick coffee.
