Rice is bland calorie-filler that I only use because poverty. I can't think of a dish of rice that I would choose to eat, and I can't think of a dish that requires rice or is better because of it except nigiri.

^this. You use toast for your breakfast because it actually adds something flavourwise to the dish that you don't necessarily get from the other ingredients. Which doesn't happen with bland fucking rice

I don't think I truly understood white privilege before seeing this thread. I mean, it never even dawned on me that there were people out there so poor that cooking rice for breakfast was considered a luxury they couldn't afford, and just had to stick to empty fillers like bread and butter. Bread and butter is what poor people fill up on when they go out to eat because they can't afford to order a real meal off the menu.

You take fresh hot rice and whip a raw egg into it for a couple of minutes. If you wanna do it like the pic you can do the white separately then put the yolk on top.
Also can mix in soy sauce and/or sesame oil. And top with furikake.

Texture and time: I can have eggs, bacon and toast in minutes. Rice takes half an hour. The crispness of toast keeps it a separate entity for dipping into yolk, as opposed to rice mixing in with the yolk, and becoming eggy rice.

I do love braised pork belly (thick bacon, simmered while baking) with rice and raw or lightly poached egg - a pinch of vinegar, a little soy, some scallion... sum good, tell yer mudder.
