it's all true. I missed that the reason for the water is a small pipe leak in the basement. The concrete wall is coated in mold and they have a couple dehumidifiers down there. the bathroom with the shower also has a huge mold patch since my dad cut out an old patch of mold and repainted but never got around to putting the waterproof coat on so it's had a sheet of plastic over it for almost a decade now, which obviously gets very humid when the shower is used and so it just got moldy again. every time I ask my dad about it he just brushes it off with some bullshit about cost or time. the basement is also a fucking mess so they are embarrassed to have a plumber over. I used to feel bad about it but I have tried to help them and they just refuse. then I learned my dad hasn't used the shower in years and just washes his hair in the sink that I just stopped giving a shit. and they still send me like $1000 a year no matter how much i tell them I don't need money so I can't believe what they tell me anymore. I'm pretty fucked up from how my mum treated us growing up. I still love them but it's hard to help when they won't even help themselves
