Used to have a scammer come in several times a week claiming she had some huge lunch order earlier in the day and she wanted a refund. No, there was no receipt with her order, but she spent almost $50 and her sandwiches were all wrong and the meat was raw or something. She pulled the hustle off a few times before we got wise. The best part was when she had the gall to put in an application and the new manager hired her. She attended two four hour training shifts, where she required a 30 minute smoke break every 15 minutes. This piece of human refuse had several children, while I will likely never pass on my genes. And that's why the world is so shit, lads.

>at this moment like 50% of everyone quit in the main group text
>owner says if anyone has some dignity to show up to work and they’ll be compensated cash
>no one shows except like one person who described the shit show

My buddy used to run this scam with tinder dates. He'd play the part of a schmuck who would talk a big game about how much he would love to spend on his prospective tinder sluts always with the promise to take them out to a really high scale restaurant. Wherever he took them, he'd lavish his date with expensive food and drinks and tell them the tab didn't matter. About 2/3 way though a meal, he'd suddenly pull out his phone and make up a silly excuse like the parking meter just ran out and he'd be right back.

Not really a restaraunt, but I used to work at a Hotel (rhythms with MARRIOTT - wait shit) that had a kitchen that served food and actually scratch cooked it. It was simple short order shit, but our eggs were actual eggs, etc. Me, being a dumb fuck, volunteered to split shifts between night audit and breakfast kitchen so the other auditor wouldn't lose his job/hours. I knew absolutely nothing about cooking, had never cooked in my life, figured they'd give me a quick run over

3 days in and there was a morning with THREE of us fuckers there and NONE of us knew how to fucking cook so I stepped up and started youtubing shit on my phone. Fortunately, cooking eggs is dogshit easy so I managed to muddle my way through. Things went OK until some corporate's came by on a particularly busy morning and apparently all their orders came wrong or they got the wrong orders. The morning after I got called into the GM's office and they talked with me about what happened, and asked:
"who trained you?"
"....nnnnoooo one?"

After that my AGM gave me a half-assed cooking demo but by then i'd already figured out how to operate all the equipment and execute our "recipes" and basically just continued as I was.

Working in a kitchen was fun, really enjoyed banging it out when things got hard. Would NEVER do it again.

Used to work in a Yakiniku restaurant during high school in the early 2010s. Comfy memories. Used to smoke a cigarette after shift with a kid my age afterwards, used to get some good food for free after my shifts. A couple times stole grape soda out of the fridge and drank it in the bathroom.
Really good times overall with a strict but kind hearted boss. She gave me a second hand smartphone for free after seeing I was still using a Nokia brick.

My wife went over seas for six months to help with family bullshit and settle legal crap.

I decided I'd take up a second job as a dish bitch just to kill time and make a little extra cash. I'd walk to work, work mindlessly while listening to music. I noticed the manager starting to talk to me more in a more sensitive manner.
One day I got a call asking if I could come in, so I did, they all threw me a three month work party and gave me gifts and shit. And asked if I wanted to work on the line, I said yea what ever. It was nice and all. But wasn't expecting it.

Thing is I drove that day, I walked out with all my free shit hopped into my car and drove off. Next day manager opened up to me and thought I was poor, or was a drug addict or some shit.

I wasn't a degenerate junkie until I started working on the line. every restaurant ive ever worked at has a very open drug trade going on. The servers all loved blow, and the boh is usually all about either dope/pills or motherfucking Adderall. Usually both. Adderall was literally currency in a couple spots I've worked at and if you had it you were the absolute king of shit mountain til you ran out.

>tells us that there's a guy who works there who is blackmailing her, so she wants a drink here
>by now realise that this is a complete ploy to get a drink by any means
>she's getting desperate now and the owner doesn't want to deal with it because he's non-confrontational
>repeatedly tell her that I can't serve her and tell her about other bars (albeit further away) that are open

Honestly if she came into the bar and told her that she was afraid for her safety, I would have let her stay until we called her a taxi or the police if she couldn't trust taxi drivers because they were men or something. I think it was pretty fucking apparent that she just wanted a drink and was willing to use any tactic to get it.
