just discovered peanut butter and jam sandwiches.

whats the approved way of doing them?

so far im doing crunchy peanut butter on the bottom slice and then jam on top, and second slice to top it all of.

should i perhaps try with butter too as an additional layer?

Dredge it in flour, egg, buttermilk, and more flour and deep fry it

that's good. my personal way of doing them is to peanut butter one side and then clean the knife off with the other side before getting jelly with the same knife. I can't find a picture of that for an example though. that way you don't have to use two pieces of silverware. If you want to use two, then use a knife for the PB and a spoon for the jelly. scoop out jelly with the spoon and then spread it with the back of the spoon.

Never done this, will have to try next time. How do you feel about adding banana slices?

The point of the butter is to keep the jelly from soaking into the bread if you're making the sandwich ahead of time. Putting peanut butter on both sides has the same effect. Butter doesn't really add anything to the sandwich since peanut butter is already so rich and creamy.

Sliced banana is really good in a peanut butter sandwich. Same with fresh berries.

I've never had pb&j with banana but I have had pb with banana and that's good. you can also try out peanut butter and honey for a sandwich. that's my goto for the heel of the loaf, usually just one slice folded over itself

If you want to take a PB&J to the next level then construct one and then butter the bread on each side and cook it like like a grilled cheese.

Generally it’s a bad idea to toast it; your peanut butter will get runny

Europoor here, I tried these kinds of sandwiches for the first time in my life about a month ago. It was way too sweet. I replaced the jelly with applesauce and it became tolerable, but nothing to write home about.

If you prefer it less sweet than I'd suggest natural peanut butter (just peanuts and salt) and wheat bread.

>> No.14010661

The peanut butter I had was 99% peanuts and 1% salt. The bread obviously didn't have any sugar in it.

use less sweet jam then, peanut butter isn't sweet by itself unless you buy a shitty one

Strawberry, Raspberry, peach, plum, apricot, grape, Jam, marmalade, preserves, apple butter, whatever you think tastes good.
